I am in need of an opinion. I presently have a 2001 Ultra and have been looking at newer models to purchase. Vy the title of the post, you will know what I am going to ask. Road King or Electra Glide. Haven't really taken any long trips for some time. My basic question is that of ride, performance, etc.
I know there have got to be opinions out there concerning this. Any thoughts?
I have a Road King. What I like about the King is you can add what ever you want to the bike and make it any touring bike HD sells and then you can take everything off for around town. When you buy the Glide you are stuck with the front fairing (not that that is a bad thing)
IMHO don't get the SE. You can mod your engine better and cheaper.
Put the two together and get a ROAD GLIDE. You won't be dissapointed. Best handling Harley ever made. From everyone I know, once they test drove one they bought it. Give it a try.

Gotta agree with Manish. The rk is the most versatile touring bike. With it, you can have a fairing, or not. That is why it is so nice to own. You have options, IMO.
I have ridden, but not owned both. IT really depends on what YOU want... But if I was going to get a fairing bike it would be a Road Glide. The RG IMO had the best ride and handling of any of the touring bikes... fairing bike gives you tunes etc stock also... The King is just so versatile that I really think it is the winner, and why I have not sold mine to get a RG. Plus you mention you have not done any long road trips. It can be a bar hopper for around town or it can do big slab duty... it is all a matter what you want to do with a King and you are not stuck with keepingawindscreenon. The RG was soooo stable out on the big road!!! Eventually I will get one and add the tour pack to it and maybe lowers.
I just bought a Road Glide , it compliments my V Rod very well. The glide could be the best choice I have ever made on a bike. It handles well for a big girl and has a lot to offer right out of the box. I suggest you go to a demo day and ride all 3 .
