Agree about the Bad Boy! Softtail Springers and the BB in particular were at the top of my list for next HD purchase. Difficult to find them in mostly stock condition or with all the stock parts included.
Lucked into an orange and black 1200 Nightster. It ain't no softtail! With a little suspesion work, I'm hoping it will come around. Really neat street bike, corners well, solid as all get out. I've ordered up a set of Flanders drag bars and forward controls to improve the ergonomics---should have left the factory that way.
From what I can tell, the Nightster is selling well. The retro 'black out' appointments set it apart from it's shiny bretheren. The low seat height and mid controls put it square with inseam 'challenged' riders. I get the notion it's being marketed as an entry level bike with enough appeal to draw in a few of us who just like the look and are willing to make the needed changes to make it rideable.
The Nightster would look very nice with a blacked out springer front end...(as far as I can tell, it's not available 'off the shelf' but like anything anymore, it's doable for the right $$)
But, it's not anywhere near the BB by any stretch of imagination.
An original BB is one of those bike I wouldn't get tired of and one of those bikes that gets passed into the family.
good article..( echoes my thoughts on harleys)....IMHO the fxsts is is sharpest bike harley makes. I wish I had one [&o]
Too bad they don't make them anymore, except the SE... No TC 96' FXSTS, No TC88 or 96 FXSTSB, and now not even the FLSTSC in 08.
I don't get it. Seems like at least on this site, and myself included, really love the Springer front end. Why would they get rid of it. I think would maybe a 'renewed' interest in something like a FXSTSB or even a FXDSB...
As a former owner of an FLSTSCi (Softail Springer Classic), it was one great machine. Everywhere I rode it, it would turn heads, never failing to get a compliment.
And riding it was a dream. I loved that bike and I'm glad it found a home that appreciates it.
I really enjoy my Ultra, but the FLSTSC was one smooth, fun ride!
