I've had show cars that I had to trailer to shows, drive them out of the trailer, put mirrors underneath them, and not enjoy them at all. Valuable, but not fun. I keep my bikes clean but I ride them rain or shine. It'll wash. Much more fun....
Ha this could be a whole new market....maybe Harley should do relic bikes like fender does their relic pre-beat aged guitars. So if you want a scratched, dented pre-rode broke in bike...you just pay extra for it. Would be great for the people who just leave them in the garage and say they ride...or perfect for those people who have never had a new bike and it wouldn't feel right. They could ride and forget it....no worries about that first scratch or leaving it in the hotel parking lot overnight. It would already come with scratches on the bottom of the saddlebags and crash bars, faded paint with plenty of swirl marks....maybe make the tank look like it had a big gas stain running down the side of it where the paint has discolored. Pre-rust and pitting on a lot of the chrome. A slightly bent mirror. Give it various oil leaks from the git-go. Various dings, dents and road rash. Custom options could maybe be painted on faux bugs and rode grime. When they roll it out for delivery it has allready been rained on and has mud all over it. Then charge 7k more than a new stock one.
I'm just kidding...... but it would be cool if like fender and gibson Harley did reissue bikes exactly like a few vintage models. I'd really dig a brand new duo-glide in two tone blue and white.
The weird thing about this is that we all love to show off the scars on our bodies, but we get annoyed when an disembodied object is scratched. Bizarre.

Please don't give Harley any ideas on how to charge us more...
I had some over splash while filling up. This being my first harley, had no ideahow thin the clear is. I went to wipe it off and put a scratch all the way into/through the paint. About 10 waxes later it wasn't so bad. The color is back but you can still see the groove where it was if the light is right.
I'm getting new paint next month and it will have 8 coats of clear. Plenty to keep the pebbles and bugs from penetrating to the paint.
