Ha this could be a whole new market....maybe Harley should do relic bikes like fender does their relic pre-beat aged guitars. So if you want a scratched, dented pre-rode broke in bike...you just pay extra for it. Would be great for the people who just leave them in the garage and say they ride...or perfect for those people who have never had a new bike and it wouldn't feel right. They could ride and forget it....no worries about that first scratch or leaving it in the hotel parking lot overnight. It would already come with scratches on the bottom of the saddlebags and crash bars, faded paint with plenty of swirl marks....maybe make the tank look like it had a big gas stain running down the side of it where the paint has discolored. Pre-rust and pitting on a lot of the chrome. A slightly bent mirror. Give it various oil leaks from the git-go. Various dings, dents and road rash. Custom options could maybe be painted on faux bugs and rode grime. When they roll it out for delivery it has allready been rained on and has mud all over it. Then charge 7k more than a new stock one.
This is really a good idea and it will probably happen just like fenders relic series jazz basses, P basses and guitars . For the very reasons you said just like guitars
I'm a firm believer in used and now you've given me one more reason why. Thanks.
I almost always buy my toys used (guitars, amps, cars, and now this bike.) I'd rather buy at half the price for a good quality piece. Then if/when I decide to sell it, I won't lose my ***.
07 Ultra, tipped it over leaving a stop sign, I only had 12 miles on it!!!!I won't go into why I dropped it but let's just say it was my fault. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Now I just ride it and wash it once a week weather it needs it or not
Yeah the first one hurts. Parked under a tree that dropped a lemon size "pod" on my front fender.Put a nice ding on the top of the fender. I was afraid to look. Had "pod jizzim" all over the front fork and fender. My own fault, damm things were all over the ground where I parked. Oh well...live and learn.
