defrauded on e-bay
HEY BROS:
Man I need help.I was dumb and bought a bike from e-bay.To make a long story shortI wassent a title that was invalid with non-matching vin numbers,Its a 1977 flh that came out of New Jersey and Im in Nevada, e-bay has left me out in the cold and will do nothing,I advise all to never buy a bike from e-bay,they state they have buyers protection but its a bunch of crap.I have rode,wrecked and rebuilt harleys for the last thrity years andI never thoughtI would get scewed by a fellow biker,This loser hails from MANAHAWKIN N.J. I have this bums name and address incase any of my brothers would like to pay him a visit.
Getting back to my question, does anyone have an idea what I can do being on the other side of the USA.

be prepared to loose your bike you just bought.
you first need to contact your local PD and report it there. Next if your state has an internet fraud team contact them. if not push your local PD to contact the PD in his town and ask them to pay him a visit regarding the vehicle registration and possible shipping of stolen goods across state lines. It's pretty cut and dried from there.

I have been doing eBay since it's inception. Bought and sold cars, trucks, bikes, and a ton of other junk along the way. Best advice I can give you is this:
EVERYONE you deal with on eBay is a crook.....until proven otherwise. Don't take ANYTHING for granted. Nothing personal towards anyone...just rules to live by in this 'ole world.
ANY purchase of a vehicle, whether it's an auto or bike, should be made IN PERSON, the paperwork all verified, and the item checked out to be sure it is as advertised BEFORE the money changes hands. IF they aren't willing to wait 5-6 days for you to travel to their location and pay them on arrival....it's a BAD deal. And if it's too far away for you to retrieve personally in leau of shipment...it's not a good idea.

How many transactions did this guy have on Ebay?. What was his feedback rating?. I never purchase anything from a newbie or anyone with bad feedback on Ebay especially a high dollar item. I bought my bike on Ebay but I picked it up in person.

The other side of the USA ain't but a 5 hr flight. I dont know about you, but if I paid a few Gs for a bike, and didn't get it ANDI had the guys address, I'd be on a plane immediately.

I bought my current ridethoughan e-bay post. Turns out the seller lived nearby, so I made the transaction in person. Personally, I would never make a purchase of any significance without inspecting the item personally or through a trusted agent. It's like the old gamblers credo-never bet more than you can afford to lose.
