I bought my 06 FXST in July 06 with no money down. Have great credit, but got a Shiotty interest rate.
Did what I had to do to get the bike, and then refinanced after makingone payment.
In August the local HD finance guy said that zero down was available only up to something like $20,000. I also believe that a credit score around 680 is just above average right now. It will get you a loan but may not guarantee the lowest rate or the lowest down. But who knows ... give it a try ... especially since you're willing to put some down anyway.
Picked up my RKC in late september. Dealer was telling me how good rates were for average to above average credit. I wanted the bike quickly, and would not have the full funds for a few days. Ran financing, 10.99% and needed 10% down. Credit score, 690. I didn't really care as I just made my first payment, and by the way, that payment was to pay the bike off. No moco, CU or bank to take away my scoot.
I walked into dealership and asked what does it take to get this bike. He grinned and said can you press real hard through 3 copies. 30 min. later i putting helmet on.
the MoCo has offered me $0 down up to $22k at 9.9% interest. I'll be taking them up on this but will be putting down $2k which will leave me a balance of about $17k. Before signing I'll be looking at other alternatives but don't have access to a credit union so this may be the best deal I can get.
Does this sound like a decent deal to you? If not, I may be looking at refinancing real soon.
For those of you that have recently re-financed... who did you go through and what interest rate did you get?
I think the more for used happens everywhere, people have bikes for sale for months and months in my area. The used one I bought earlier this year was online for 2 months before he lowered the price twice in a week. I called him and made an offer and the rest was history.
