I have one. It could be that it started as a superstition.(But I have a hard time accepting that any one would believe it.) Today it is a mix of custom, tradition and another way for the dealer to get some of your money.
I have one. A friend bought it for me when we went to pick up my bike from the dealer. He bought it without me knowing, then whipped it out a little later as a gift. It actually made me feel GREAT that he did that.
I have one. Months before picking up my bike, I told my 11yr old son about it. The day I picked up my bike, he bought one for me without me knowing. Superstition, habit, or custom, I don't know but it was the thought that counts. I guess he don't want anything bad happenin to his dad.
I just dont want to take a chance that it is for real. My riding partner gave me mine and would not leave without it! Need all the help you can get out there.
