I am fairly new to this forum, but have noticed a surprising number of people post here that sing the praises of other bikes over the Harleys that they say they own. Some of these people have posts in the 100s, and some in the thousands. Discounting the idiots that sign up just to stir up sh*t because thay get aroused by doing it, I really don't understand the motivation of the others. I would never come to a Harley forum and bitch about Harleys. Wouldn't even cross my mind. If I was pissed about my bike I would bitch to the dealer, Harley Davidson, or myself for buying the wrong bike. I wouldn't come to a place where presumably most love their Harleys and bitch there. They dinagrate the styling, the sound, the lack of speed, the manuverability, the cost, and proclaim that almost any other brand of bike is much better. Why announce to 50,000 people that you just spent a sh*tload of money on something you don't even like? I really am fasinated by this. I'm just not smart enough to understand it. I'll probably get incinerated for posting this, but I'd really like to understand what would motivate people to do this, and then continue to do it for months.
You clearly have no problems with your bike,if you even own one. When you do and get lack of action, denial on the dealers part or company, you can come over to the dark side. You could of course be a retard and sell the bike and take a 6-7k hit on it. Seems to be highly recommended by many on this forum as a way out. If any of these posts offend you, stay in the happy land postings where you can learn about fingerless gloves and how to wave. Where the hell do you think something like ids came from? It sure wasn't from happy campers, but there are more of them now due to the people like me bitching. Do you really think MoCo would do the IDS thing for the hell of it in 2008. Ron

And to this I would add that sometimes when someone complains about something going wrong with their bike,or a dealer screwing them, often they are met with " if ya don't like it then buy a Goldwing!" Stupid **** like that. Some have their entire being, self esteem etc.. wrapped up in a machine and will blast any criticism of the MoCo. And that createes bad feelings by people with legit complaints.

Yes, in fact I do own one, since I make a payment every month, I'm pretty sure of that. No, I haven't had any problems with my bike. And again, I am not talking about people with problems with their bikes. I'm talking about generlized bashing of Harleys on a Harley forum. If I had a problem with my bike I would bitch until it was fixed. I just wouldn't bitch to people who can't do anything about it. You are obviously very bitter, and if this post made it worse, I apologize, it was not my intent. But don't be pissed at me for liking my bike and not having a problem with it. There is not a f*cking thing I can do for you.

Right on! We don't have to worship the moco or the bikes. We paid plenty for them and if we have opinions some of you don't like about hd or their competitors- ts.

Every thread that I have read here that you have posted in, you have had nothing good to say about Harley Davidson. Aren't you the one that thought Victorys were far better than Harleys, and that Harley's looked like pinball machines compared to them, or something to that affect? You have not , that I know of, ever complained about a mechanical problem with a Harley ( I could be wrong), you only bitch about Harleys in general. You, are what I was talking about in my original post. If you ever agreed with me, I would seriously reconsider my position on the subject, whatever it was.

I like hd in general and have owned nine so far since 78. If I didn't like and enjoy them I wouldn't keep buying them. Like it or not folkson here don't have to worship hd.
I still think a vic 8 ball looks far better than a tastelessly chromed out wide glide whereas a stock [or nearly so] wide glide is a great looking machine.
I could bore you with some mehanical horror stories from long gone shovels but I won't.
My comments about hds and the moco are my opinions. Imo the moco is getting better but they still use their customers as beta testers from time to time.
Sorry you don't like my posts. Maybe we will find something to agree about in the future.
I don't think it's so much the complaints about little things or even the "stealerships". It's the comparisons to other bikes and comments like "the Victory POS is so much better than the HD Softail" or whatever. If ya really fell that way, sell your bike and get off of this forum. Ya bore me.
Obviously it has to be said again...Owning a Harley is not about it's awesome power or ability to corner like a sportbike. They're not really built for that. They're torquee cruisers that make you grin from ear to ear when you ride them. They're the escense of cool. They're for those of us that know we want one just because we want one...for our own reasons. If you're not one of those people, move on. You'll never get it.

Let me see if I can follow this up.............................................
If you dont like'em....buy something different......and take youre biatch *** somewhere else.............................................. ................... . . ...
Don't know what you are talking about. You mean to say you have seen threads on this forum where someone actually said something derogatory about their Harley??
Are you sure 100% that you read post with B!tching and complaints about Harley products here?
Ummmmmmmmm, somebody should certainly look into that, go figure
DougJ
Yes. Amazingly I have! I know that some people are asking for proof. I must have been hallucinating. Or reading things in a different plane of reality. Some can just comment using little smiley face cartoons. I gotta try that. I get credit for a post towards my Super extra special road commando in exalted standing multi yellow star ranking.
You're not hallucinating, I've ridden Harley's for over 30 yrs. and been a member of many forums, but this forum has the market cornered on bashing. I've come to the conclusion that it's the difference between bikers and enthusiasts. Addtionally, Harley's require the mechanical skills to be able to change a spark plug. Some can't deal with that.

Exactly. I have no complaints about my bike. I have issues with the local dealership, but just like threads on this forum, I can skip over it and go somewhere else.
