Word is floating around that the new owners of the Indian name and brand are planning on offering new Indian motorcycles sometime in 2008. The rumors are that they will look very much like the last batch that were made and sold out of Gilroy.
Knowing how deep the competitive spirits were between Harley and Indian riders for several decades, I am curious what forum members think of theidea of a newHarley-like V-twin bike with the Indian name on the gas tank.
I am also curious how many Harley ridersare interested in the old 1953 and earlier Indians.
And yes, Ihave owned a number of the older Indians over the years and am fortunate to still have a couple ofearlier Indian motorcycles.
I love Indians, and have considered buying a Chief after riding a buddies down at the ROT this year. I am very interested to see what they come out with again. I may need to go buy one before they come back out or will the re-release drop the value of the older ones?????
Rumor? http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/I don't think it's a rumor by looking at their websight. Regardless, I'd be skeptical for the first year. The powerplu 100 engine adn the fact that they say "The retail price is yet to be determined and as a premium product they will be priced accordingly." Sounds like they're going to put folks to the coals for cost.
