Default I've decided...

To use my RKC as a commuter bike. I put $75.00 in my truck's gas tank and it's not full! My RKC has 18K miles on it now. I guess I'll find out how many miles I can get out of it. Thought about getting a Japanese bike but I can't see myself on one.

I didn't think I could see myself on a Jap bike, but I found a 96 Yamaha Virago 750 for almost nothing and I have been riding it the 48 miles to work. I have caught a lot of flack about Mr Harley on that thing, but it has saved putting about 500 miles a week on either my pickup or my Softail. I wish the weather would warm up so I can start riding to work again.

Vehicles seem to last longer when used more often.

I put a tour pack on my Fatboy and it makes a great communter for me, I can even bring stuff home from the store. I am just going cross town. But I figured between the fatboy and the SUV I am saving about $100 a month in gas. Going from 13 mpg to 40 mpg is worth it.

And I agree the more you ride it the longer it will last.

It takes about $35-40 to fill up the cage and about $8-10 for the scoot. Consequently, I use the scoot every day that I can...

I ride my bike almost 80 miles round trip each day. If it's above 35 degrees and not raining, then I'm going to be on the bike. I put 18k miles on my '07 Road King last year and it was just starting to get broken in! The Road King makes a great commuter bike.
