I'll have to check mine tonight. How long do you think it will take for them to ship the replacements? Are we gonna be put ahead of those people who just ordered helmets?
No offense TxHarleyGuy2007, but you didn't have to keep your ACC helmet if you were not satisfied with the product. They do offer refunds.
Just saying...
No offense taken. And had you taken the time to have read former posts surrounding this very subject, you would have taken from them that at the time of delivery, I wasn't altogether unsatisified with said product. That is, until I had something else by which to compare it to. It was at that point that I began to feel that said ACC helmet wasn't even remotely up to the standards of craftsmanship as other DOT helmets out there of relatively similar size and weight.
Just saying...
NOTE:
I have since spoken with the owner of the company. He explained to me what transpired and why it transpired. A definite breakdown with regard to internal checks and balances as it relates to quality control and monitoring. He seemed sincere in his efforts to 'want to make things right'. And to that end, I'll give such the benefit of the doubt.
They replaced the inside of my helmet. Same helmet but a new plastic liner on the inside. A far cry better than what they had that ruff crap that made me wear a doo rag every time I put the helmet on my head. They also fixed the straps so that they would pull the helmet down on your head instead of letting it lift like before.
Ok some are upset because of the recall. What ever I say. I started wearing it just so I would be harrassed about my non-dot helmet. Its light NOW its comfortable and thats what matters to me. It also should pass the new NC helmet law coming into effect 2008.
If your helmet was manufactured between the dates of: Oct 2006 through July 07.
Check tag in side helmet.
You will need to phone ACC, let them know the tag inside has a manufacture date between those dates.
They will send a box with prepaid mailer for you to return the helmet and you will have a new one sent back to you in exchange.
Sorry to say...... I'm not dissatisfied with my helmet even in light of the recall.
I like the thing, and don't feel like itâs a failed product.
I've always had a great experience with ACC when ever or how ever I've dealt with them.
I will continue tobelieve that they will make good on the recall and exchange until proven otherwise.
I wish that I could say the same about our State and Federal Tax system.
New helmet or new liner in your old helmet ??? TXHarleyGut2007 said they told him NEW LINER -
I have only reported what the gal on the phone has told me. If its the same one I own now with new inners, thats fine with me too. I've taken great care of it and like it just the same.
Now if they do send out a new helmet I'm not going tobe upset about that either.
Editing:
Now just for "clearity" I'm calling them back tomorrow and telling them mine is in the recall....
I'll verify for the forum "exactly" what I'm going to get back and will post when I'm finshed.
I just checked my ACC. Date of manufacture was 06/07. The inside material is dark grey with light speckels in it, it's not white. I guess I should call the gal and ask for a new one. I do want my current chin strap configuration, as I had them shorten it for me.
Thanks to this great site, I learned of the recall today and called ACC. Yes, my helmet is recalled. They were very nice and will be sending a box very soon. These people are very easy to work with, however I agree with TXHARLEYGUY. For the price of these helmets, quality control is questionable, and I've always questioned the DOT legitimacy. On the other hand, I love my helmet and will continue to wear it.
