Post your pictures when you get back. Would like to see what the Keys are all about. My wife has been bugging me to take her.

Man I LOVE Key West !!

Your riding into Key West huh? From West Palm might not seem like a lot of miles, but it's still a long trip time wise,so keep that in mind. If I were you, I'd try and ride all the way down to Homestead on your first night and stay at a hotel there just before the one lane trip into Key West. I believe there is a Comfort Inn on your left JUST before you take that one lane in. The ride from West Palm isn't at all scenic and you'll be glad that you were that much closer the following day. TRUST ME !!

As far as the trip itself to Key West, take your time and take it all in. If you can, just before you go over the 7 mile bridge, try and leave as much space between you and the car in front of you. Like a FOOTBALL FIELDof space !! I'm serious !! If you have to pull over just before going over that bridge and let all of the cars behind you go first DO IT. When you crest that bridge with the sun on your face and the water on both sides you'll swear you are in heaven. It really is that awesome !! I've done that trip several times and I never tire of it. Going into Key West is the best. It's nice comming out as well, but a LOT nicer going in.

Just remember that most of the trip after Homestead is a one lane highway and as you pass through each Key you'll have to slow down to 35mph. That's why you'll need to leave yourself extra time and that's why I recomended that you start from Homestead instead of West Palm. The trip from Homestead to Key West is probably 3-4 hours long. Figure on it being another 3 to West Palm depending on which route you go. Traffic is a bitch and isn't fun at all from West Palm to Homestead. Light to light mostly. Sucks ...

Man I envy you !!! Even though I'll probably be back in March I just can't get there enough. The rates are probably pretty good right now too.

Mallory Square at sunset is a MUST !!

All of the bars that the others have mentioned as well as the Rum Barrel. Maybe you guy's aren't into it, but it's owned by Pat Croche and since he's from Philly ( like me ) he has some of teh local Philly dishes there and I think he's priced pretty good.

Sloppy Joes

Southern Most Point - You've gotta check this out. When you do, you'll see how difficult it was fo rme to take this shot .... LOL -

Cruisin along the beach on Beach street ( BEAUTIFUL )

Gettin ready to roll out ...

Man I love that place !!

Totally your call dude, but I'm tellin ya once you get to Key West you'll wish that you had gotten there sooner.

I think the Comfort Inn just before your trip in was only about 80 bucks a night. Well worth it !!

Be safe !!

Great Idea!

Jet Ski Tour: Island Watersports (island-watersports.com) (305) 296-1754,
245 Front St. (Hilton Resort & Marina)
That's the place.

js124, from West Palm Beach head straight east and grab the Turnpike, take it south until it ends. It should only be a 90 minute ride or so and then it will be 3-4 hours from there to Key West.

JS - Don't be nervous at all about the length of your trip. You are going on an ULTRA !! That is like riding on a Caddy. You're letting your bar hopper bikes scare you. This ride will be NOTHING like those bar hopper trips. You won't even have wind in your face that much thanks to the fairing. You'll be fine.

JRK - are you talking about the Comfort Inn or the hotel in Key West where the pic was taken? BOTH were cheap motels !!

Wecroft - did you take that from Mapquest or is that an actual time that you've ridden it in? I know the trip from Homestead to KW was probaby about 3 hours alone.
