Let me preface: I love my Harley.
Now, whether you like it or not there is some truth in his rants. And it's a free country and he's entitled to his opinion. I can't believe someone in this forum would be red enough to want to fight this guy over his opinion...
Yep...had that problem too. Didn't find it funny enough I guess.
I had a problem too! not enough pictures
Agreed. I can only take in stupidity for so long... then my eyes glaze over and I start to daydream about how cool it will be when the spring is here again and I start up the Sportster for the first ride of the year.
When did all this divisiveness start. When I got out of the Army in '70 I got together with the local bikers, I was riding a Zundapp cop bike and every make was represented in the group. Sure, the guys with HDs were top dogs, a lot of nice chops, but they also were the first to help out if your furrin bike had problems. On runs you only had to keep ahead of the truck so speed didn't enter into it. In the next couple of yrs I ownedtheZ'dapp, aHonda 305 Dream and eventually a Knuckle and a Pan. No one ever gave anybody sh^t over what they rode as long as they had a good attitude. The best running bike in the group was a Norton 750. The best looking were several hand built HD choppers. What happened?
I absolutely second you on this. Where I work there are various co-workers with bikes. One is a bimmer near his pension, another is a Harley fan which has family and responsibilities, and couldn't afford one, and so bought a Honda 750 custom bike. He likes my Superglide, and I actually like his honda, he did some work on it... I'd be a complete ******* to downrate him just because he doesn't have the money to afford an HD, especially since he's been riding before I was born. We share our passion, I got compliments for my bike, he got compliments for his, I got good advice from both of them.
This said: if one decides to make an ******* of himself, he can't blame others for calling him that,
Guess the guy of the website just did exactly this.
DITTO! I only wonder why he feels the neccessity to spend all that time, energy & money into bashing HD? As my Dad always said, " If you put 1/2 that wasted energy into something constructive......"

God bless America and our right to say what we think. He's absolutly right, I bought a Harley to be part of a group. All performance and maintenance issues aside, there is not another brand of motorcycle out there that appeals to me the way my Heritage does. Call it nostalgia, pro-American, or anything else. When I walk into my garage and look at my bike, I still get the same goosebumps I got when the Heritage Softail line was introduced. It looks like a slice of America that has long passed and personally, I want to try to hang on to it a long a possible. If I wanted to go fast, I wouldn't own a Harley. If I was afraid of maintenance, I wouldn't own a Harley. If my family was broke and eating Beenie Weenies every night, I wouldn't own a Harley. But because of the way the bike makes me feel, I wouldn't own anything else. My .02
Someting put a bug up his *** no doubt. Looks like he suffers from HD (alot like *****) envy. Maybe the love of his life ran off with a Harley rider. He might wanna try therapy although if he actually rode a Harley he probably would have his head together and not have to hire a shrink. I've ridden and owned a whole lot of bikes from europe and asia and nothing else does it like an HD. One of my best riding buddies rides aBeemer and we have the utmost respect for each other as enthusiasts.
I do get tired of a**holes talking about what harleys did and didn't do from 50 years ago as if that is the case today. I took a trip summer before last of some 6K miles with a buddy that has a new goldwing. Neither of us took a wrench to our bikes for the entire trip. My HD got better gas mileage but requires higher octane fuel.
My philosophy: Don't knock anyone for what they ride especially if they are truly an enthusiast!
What a yawner; 'coulda bought whatever I wanted and was a bit hesitant about buying into the "HD" thing; test rode a whole bunch of metric stuff, but nothing suites me like my HD.....nothing.
