My son just finished his finals at OU and he's out with his buddy making some extra cash removing trees after the recent ice storm. Anyway, he notices a RKC with a 1% sticker on it at one of the houses where he's cleaning up. He comments to the owner that his dad also rides a RKC and that he just finished his dads book, "Out In Bad Standings". The guy says that the book is total BS and then shows my son his colors which indicated that he was a fully patched member of that club. There's more to this story, but I think it's best that I stop here.
I know several HA's for years. I ride with them individually. recently due to an accident at work, these guys were among the group that showed up at the hospital to check on my well being. None of my HOG chapter showed, yet I have gone out in the middle of the night to assist and haul when their bikes have been disabled. Ask me who I prefer!
Wow, was this his first time to meeting a gang member.
Did ya explain how they are just F'd up as the Man or any fawkin street gang, makin rules for others, claiming territory like a bunch of tribal jackasses.
Gang member?.........It's easy to say these things on an internet forum ,but I doubt you'd say that type of thing if you were face to face with a "club" member.I'm not affiliated with any club but I've known several members over the years and they have been some of the most "stand up" people you can meet.Treat them with respect and you'll get the same.Talk like you are now and you won't get very far.

My son simply thought it was interesting to meet a member of the club he had just read about and the club member thought it was interesting that some college kid had read "Out in Bad Standings".

My son also met one recently who I used to ride with over thirty years ago. The guy knew his name and asked him about me and where I am these days. This guy works at a certain dealership in Fla and I thought it was good that he remembered me after all these years. Strange thing is, he stayed on that side of the fence and I went another way. This man was always there for me even though I didn`t wear the rags. Just goes to show ya what can come of a good relationship and honesty between riders.
A firend of mine who rides japs had to stop on the highway. Run out of gas. Sometimes happens even to the most experienced...
Was thinking up what to do (nearest station over 10 km away) and no other motorcyclist stopped.
Until when this horrible biker with colors and all stops by. He thought the guy was out for trouble and picking a fight with a "riceburner" rider.
Instead, the biker asks him if he's fine, and when hears that he's out of gas offers to tow him to the gas station.
He brought him there and parted with a friendly salute.
Jus because somebody doesn't abide the law doesn't mean he's a S.O.B. or a bastard.
Met some convicted felons in my life: most were a decent bunch, and some a real crack to have around (and loyal to their friends more than most so called "law abiding citizens". Weird, but true.
Moral: not all people are the same, prejudice won't bring you very far, don't judge unless you want to be judged, look at the straw in your eye and all that stuff...
