WOW! it was over 70' today. Was in the canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains. We took Pacific Coast Highway and enjoyed a very clear sky and a great view of the Pacific Ocean. You could see Catalina Island at sea level or from a mountain view.
OK, I'll bite. How did your husband's VTX be allowed on a HOG ride? Around here HOG rides are for HD bikes only. They don't let other brands ride.
Unless it'sspecified by the Chapter, most HOG rides are open to guests. You can ride with them on an off-brand,but you can't join unless you own a HD and you're an active Nationalmember.

Well, where I am, guests still must have an HD bike. There are no other brands allowed on any rides except for the annual toy run to CHOC.

Our chapter allows all bikes..our tailgunner (and chapter photographer) was streaching out his BMW for the day too. Ther eusually are not more the oe or two odd men out. Hubby is a member of the chapter as a National HOG associate member (I am the full member) he qualifies to join the local. Saves on the paperwork for the rides.
Our chapter's attitude is that you hopefully will find your way to a Harley if you ride with them enough...they just don't know hubby well enough

I love California!
I was reallly chomping at the bit to be out but it was family day. We played minuiture golf in Ventura and had a good dinner in Oxnard. Then we decided to change a major present for my son (he changed his mind -- of course) somy daughter and Iwent shopping.
Yesterday was clear as could be too....not sure I have seen the islands that well in quite a while. Absolutely beautiful.
I have seen the same thing you have, the Ultra "FEELS" more nimble that the wifes Deluxe, altough I do like the Deluxe in some situations, (extreme curves etc..) As for your back, its a HUGE difference, your riding position is changed quite a bit, and that adds comfort for long rides.
I put a J&M CB on the Deluxe, so we can chat while we ride, and daughter uses the second headset I bought so she can join in from the back. Works Great.
Keep enjoying the bike, and the parking will happen with a little practice.

Next time rent a few HD's and y'all can haveafamily day while cruising!
By the way, today's highs will be in the mid 70's! Nice and warm however, it's going to be windy in the canyons.
