I got national HOG membership when I bought my first new Harley . I've maintainedmembership for the last three years. Its a real bargin. For about $70, they send you a pin (Wow!), a patch (super Wow!), a membership card (Holy Cow!) and a "magazine" quarterly that doesn't make good reading material in the john. Go for it!

Has anyone used the roadside assistance? That is the real reason I'm considering joining. I ride with a few other firemen and agree that it would be nice to meet others and go to the events but the roadside is what has me interested.
I'm a national and local chapter member and have used Roadside Assistance once. I also have AAA/Plus RV. When I needed a tow last year I called AAA first only to find out that no motorcycle qualified tow truck was available for me in the area I was in (North Jersey). One call to RoadAmerica and a tow truck showed up within 30 minutes. The driver was also a rider and knew how to secure the bike up on the flatbed right.
Now with that being said ,I must point out that availability of tow trucks varies depending on the region and day, regardless of which service you have. RoadAmerica helped me when AAA could not, but that is not to say that the next time around it won't go the other way. That's why I have both coverages. I've used AAA for years on my cars anyway, and it was only about thirty bucks to upgrade to RV. HOG Roadside Assistance (RoadAmerica) has several coverage deals that include unlimited towing as well as motel reembursment.
As far as my HOG chapter, I have enjoyed my association with it. Good people and involvement in many worth while causes as well as fun get togethers. Usually me and my wife go it alone, but we do get together with the club a few times during the year. It all depends on the membership and the people who run it. Every chapter is different.

Thanks guys sounds like I will Be getting a membership before the summer rides start. I think just a local so that i have the raodside assistance becasue that is my main concern. If my firefighter buddys can not ride andI don't want to ride aloneI might want to look up some othrer members. I like to meet people and that sound like a perk of the membership form what I here. Someone also said something about discounts at the dealer EVERYONE needs that with the way they like there stuff .

I also got a new national membership when I purchased my bike last year. Took a look at the local club but wasn't my thing. Anyway, didn't think it any big deal and was going to let it lapse this year until I picked up a rear flat away from home. Called AAA, and they said, "No dice". Called the number on the back of the HOG card and got a truck within 1/2 hour to my location. Great service! Guy also rode and took great care of the bike putting it on the truck. HOG pays for the first $100.00, you pay the rest. I know the guy hauled it further than the $100.00 but told me not to worry, he would take care of it. Picked it up the next day at the dealer and all was fine. Paid for the basic membership again as it really wasn't that much and well worth the security. By the way, you can get 20% off parts at most dealers if you order on line. Check it out.
