It is a SHOW. The fact that they build bikes does not make them real bike builders. A search of state legal dockets will show that consumers have been seriously injured as a result of the building/fabricating processes OCC uses. Bad welds,unsafe/impractical frame geometry......These bikes are for show not for real riding.
Careful..talk like that will make Paul Sr. very angry!!HEHEHE

I like bikes of all kinds. I like their bikes. Been to their store where most theme bikes are displayed. Very nice. Most of their apparel is overpriced though.
I used to watch the show fairly regularly until I went to Myrtle Beach Bike Week in 02 or 03. They were set up at Broadway at the Beach and had a few of their bikes to display. We woke up to check it out and when we got there we find out they want money to just look at their bikes. There was a line from hell. It was only $2 or $3 bucks, but how greedy and money hungry can you be to charge people to "Look" at your bikes.
Changed my outlook.
It's not greed. Just an old trick to thin out crowds. The money you do that way isn't even worth the gas needed to get there, believe me.
It's just that out there there are LOTS of people who'd give a look just for the sake of seeing what's happening, and others who are SERIOUSLY interested. Put a 2$ fee, and you will easily select the first from the former, leaving those who have serious interest more time and room to look. Just that.
As for overpricing, it's very difficult to put a price tag on craftmanship. It's always expensive, if compared to industrial manufacturing.

I like the show, but wouldn't buy one of their bikes even if I had the money
Can you please elaborate on this?
Because you don't like the style, because you don't like the people... there can be many reasons and I'm just curious.

This show has brought and extremem amount of exposure to the motorcycle industry in general. This has done a lot of good things for the industry as anytimne something is given a lot of exposure on television it goes through the roof. My hat is off to these guys making it big like they have. To develop your own successful brand that quickly and keep growing it is not easy.

I like the cast and characters, but thier motorcycles are junk! I can't believe the amount of intolerance they exhibit during MC construction like the use of large hammers to beat things together. I have a friend that purchased an OCC production chopper. With less than 1000 miles on the bike, the transmittion self destructed. OCC does not warrant even thier production bikes. He was stuck flipping the bill to install a new Baker 6 speed. Sure, I'll watch thier show, but have no respect for the craftsmanship!

Is it really their fault?
As said, when you buy a full custom, to put it in the simplest possible way, you are basically buying a prototype.
You must realize this, and act accordingly.

I've known people who'd buy a customized sportscar with tuned turbo engine.
They'd just switch it on, roar away with pipes ablaze like they stole it, then, after some miles of what can only be called pirate stunt driving, park it and switch it off.
After less than 2000 km of this ill treatment the poor turbine got to meet its maker. When they were given an explanation (in slow talking, using short words only) that a turbo engine (especially a tuned one) can't be driven in such a way, they complained that they paid more than 20.000 $ for the job, and for that money they want a car that you can use as they please.
I replied that, if they wanted a car you can push hard on a cool morning without prior warmup, and can just switch off when finished, they should get a standard Ford Focus (gasoline engine, not diesel) and be happy.
You never know who will buy something, and what they have done prior to start whining...
Usually machine do their job, if built with a minimum of reasonable care.
Usually people break machines, then blame the tool for their incompetence...

I still watch it sometimes. But seriously, the father/son confrontation BS is getting old.
