OCC: seriously, what's the problem?
Well, it's a TV show... obviously some will like it, some won't.
I just can't understand all the hate posts on the forums.
After all, they do build some real nice bikes. Most aren't cruisers, most are show bikes, some are more sculptures than bikes.
So what?
They are nice all the same.
I wouldn't certainly start a 200 miles trip on a commemorative bike, but this doesn't keep me from appreciating what's good in it.
Complaining such a bike is not good for prolonged, "real" use is like complaining a sports car is no good to plow a field.
So what?
It wasn't meant for that use.
As for defects, well: Mercedes Benz, who INVENTED the f.ing automobile, has built over 20 thousand prototypes of his lates C class, performing over 200 thousand different tests running over 20 million kilometers... and still there are things that go wrong. In its whole life a firm which builds custom bikes probably won't build as many finished bikes as MB built prototypes for their new premium sedan. And you scoff at occasional defects?
When you buy such a bike, you know there can be something not completely tested, that an unforeseen problem may rise its ugly head and leave you stranded by the roadside with your 50 thousand dollars bike turned into a beautifully crafted immoveable sculpture.
So what?
You want affordable reliability?
Buy a japanese stock bike.

I like the show, I like some of their bikes. Cant afford one and really dont want one.
Its TV, its entertainment. If they didnt do the things they do and act like they do, no one would watch.
Take it for what it is.
You cant fault someone for finding a way to do what they love and make money at it.

I dont think their bikes are worth the cash. Therefore I wont buy one.
To each their own
I used to watch the show fairly regularly until I went to Myrtle Beach Bike Week in 02 or 03. They were set up at Broadway at the Beach and had a few of their bikes to display. We woke up to check it out and when we got there we find out they want money to just look at their bikes. There was a line from hell. It was only $2 or $3 bucks, but how greedy and money hungry can you be to charge people to "Look" at your bikes.
Changed my outlook.

"Every manufacturer has issues, thats why they all have Service Departments
In the case of custom made bikes, a small craftmanship reality usually can't afford a Service Department, so mostly you'll have to find a good mechanic, or wait long time, or service the bike yourself.
I wouldn't buy a full custom bike unless I'm confident in my capacity of servicing it myself.
