Default RE: Need Texas Trip Advice

born and raised in corpus. moved to san antonio for college, in '95, and never left. I37, connecting SA to Corpus is an absolutely worthless stretch of road. 129 miles seperate the two. highway is long, straight and flat. corpus is ok, if you like the beach, even then, i'd be choosy about which stretch of beach i'd go. i'd probably hang out in port aransas. corpus has a cool little scene, but you have to know where to go.

as far as riding goes, san antonio/austin/hill country is far superior. the drivers are horrible in san antonio and austin, with I35 connecting the two cities being bumper to bumper at anytime of the day or night. stay away from 35 and wander out west.

that being said....Bandera, Kerrville, Luckenbach (local biker mecca), Gruene, Boerne and all the small towns around that area offer awesome riding at any time of the year. when i travel from SA to austin, i always take 281/290. much nicer ride with little traffic.
