It would work as long as you are jumping motorcycle battery to motorcycle battery.
I doubt it. You could use a light gauge wire to trickle charge from battery to battery, but that would take a while if the stranded bike was totally dead. If the stranded bike were totally dead, though a trickle charge would be useful. You could do the trickle to get enough juice to power the ECM and injectors, then push start the bike.
Agree that the light gauge wire (looks like 16 gauge stranded) would not carry the starter current. If he wants to use the clips, they look sufficient if the wire size were increased. Looks like its possible to crimp in ten gauge wire and have a set of jumpers. Most motorcycle battery tenders and battery chargers use these small clips.

Hook the positive wire to the positive battery cable. Hook the negative to some metal away form the battery after you connected the positive. If you hook it to the negative terminal the hydrogen gas from the battery my be ignighted by the spark. This is not an uncommon occurance.[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Ive seen it done many times. Small wire hooked to aligator clips to jump start. It worked just fine. even ifn you dont have any clips, any wire touching the post will get it jump started. I used coat hangers wire one time. [8D]

Find yourself (garage sales, etc) an old 12v, 2-10-50 amp batt chgr. Cut the batt leads off it., then the big clips.Or useAT LEAST10 ga. stranded wire. Go to Checkers, NAPA, etc, buy a set of red and black clip ends, the smaller ones. Put the ends on the cut off leads, and solder them on so they make GOOD connection and current flow. They roll up really nice and small to fit in a tool bag or saddle bag. You'll have all of $10 in it, they will handle all the juice, and the ppl stranded on Main St. or in the campground in Sturgis will LOVE you for having them. Just be careful hooking them up. Hydrogen gas is one reason, as stated, arcing can blow your puter is even a better one. Someone correct my senior moment here, + of dead batt, + and then- of good batt, then - to frame(pass peg bolt works good too)of dead bike. Sorry, I'm havin' a brain fart right now. Cowboy is right tho, in a dire emergency, you can use a bare wire, but B prepared, it's going to get real hot, real fast. Wear gloves, fingerless are ok if you r a POSER. But chicks dig scars !!
P.S. If all that fails, just KICK it, that's what I do.
