Default The Bucket List

I have decided to live my live the way I want to. I'm not going to do something I don't want to. I've decided life is too short to not do the things that make me happy.

My decision to move to Middle Tennessee was largely based on that epiphany. I couldn't have made a better decision for myself than to be closer to my family. I am loving every minute of it.

I like riding motorcycles. I ride about 15,000 miles a year on my old Police Electraglide. The memories I have of riding twisties with good friends and seeing the beauty that our great country has to offer will live with me forever. There's an old saying that "on your deathbed its the things that you didn't do that you'll regret, not the one's you did."

That is so true. And now, there's a movie by a couple of my favorite actors that addresses that issue, The Bucket List. The Bucket List is about two men dying of cancer that use their last days to do the things in life they wanted to do while they were able to live life.

Maybe the underlying message in this movie is that life is too short to not take risk and get what you want out of life and that you don't want to be on your deathbed wishing you had done something and not be able to do it before you die.

I could've told you that!

Now, I realize that not everyone is able to live the lifestyle that I am. Most people my age have children, a mortgage, two car notes, and a job that might demand more of them than it pays for. But that doesn't mean that you have to live with dreams only to have them flash before your eyes before your death and regret not chasing them. Too many people are complacent and don't chase their dreams.

Do you dream of riding cross country or building your own scooter? Whatever your dreams are, don't give up on them. You'll die regretting it.

No regrets here. I did what I wanted to do while young and healthy. In the early 1980s I traveled the USA for two years living by myself in a VW camper. In 2000 I took up skydiving and I'm now I'm enjoying my Harley at 69+. Who knows what next year will bring??? Right now I'm enjoying my wife and six Grandsons more than anything.

PS: I enjoyed the movie also. (Two Thumbs Up)

My life has been many chapters of many adventures. I haven't regretted one thing I've done and I can't think of anything I haven't done that I want to do.

It can't be any better than that.

I'm with you 110% on that. I will also try to go through all my funds. The thing is that I dont put as much value on money as I do my time. Once I spend my time is gone for ever, but I can spend all my money today....and make it back the next day (thank God I am strong and healthy with a good mind), buttime you will never get back.

Time is the one thing I will not waist.....nor will I let anyone waist it for me.

This is a great post. After losing my grandfather just six months after his retirement. My uncle and I adopted a pholophsy to live by. My grandmother and grandfather had just bought a new truck and camper and were ready to start living their lives to the fullest.Unfortunately that didn't happen.

Want to ride from Georgia to the Grand Canyon with my son. He is 2.5 yo and by the time he is old enough for the trip, I should have a touring bike by then. Electra-Glide Standard and me and the boy are off...Probably about 5-7 years away, so far so good no regrets, good job, great wife (2nd time around got it right) 3 beautiful children, daily driver HD, life is good..
Lost my mother (age 39)to cancer when I was15 yo, so it put my life in a different light at a young age.
You only go round once..
