havent hit any animals yet, almost got nailed in the head though by a huge bird. deer are crazy here in pa as well. i always like to go with the saying "if you cant eat it in one sitting; dont run it over."
Coming home one night from somewhere, and rounded a corner and there was a skunk crossing the road. I swerved to miss him successfully with the front tire but the rear tire went "bump".
I watched him scurry off the road so I figured he was OK. I got home, and here he sprayed when I hit him, and it got all over the leather saddlebags. It took about 4-6 weeks before that went away, even with trying to clean them. I'd come out in the garage in the morning and it smelled like a skunk sprayed in there....[:'(]
Hmm, 2 coyotes, numerous birds, snakes..too many to count along with kami kazee rabbits, but the most butt puckering one for me is the psycho owl that seems to have it out for me. Same stretch of road, almost the same location, so now everytime i get close i slow down and wait for this thing to scare the bejeezus out of me.
Oh the joys of the Arizona desert at night.
got me a possum on my sporty. just held tight and straight puckered the as$ and went bump. scared the bejesus out of me. nothing with the night train yet. knock on wood.
Small critters are bad enuff, but you really need to watch out for Deer!! I hit one at 35mph in 2006, almost sent me off the bike. I was very lucky to stay up, but it was a small doe so the weight of the RK won. Big thing with small critters is to stay your course, let off the throttle and brake smoothly.

Free roaming dogs are a threat to our safety and as such are fair game.
If you give a chit about your pet, you wouldn't let them run into the road. [:@]

Have only hit small game - squirrel, rabbit, and couple of striped gophers. Been real lucky avoiding the bambis.
Dogs that chase cars and bikes - ever wonder what they do with the car/bike after they catch it?
Saw the post 'bout the "dreaded" skunk spray, not good. [:'(]Solution - (some of you LEOs, help me out here) Niece of a good friend is a LEO. Friend runs dog sled teams, and dogs tangle with skunks. His niece gave him an enzyme product that LEOs use for neutralizing odors of dead bodies and blood in cars, apts., etc. I know, sounds gruesome, but the stuff works on body fluids, and works great.
