1978, I hit sameGerman Shepherd twice onmy KZ 400 within a month. She did not survive the second time. Two squirrels last year with the Ultra. I worry about the deer that I don't see, hiding in the fence rows, waiting to make their move.
once when I was in my 20s I was going to work on my 250 enduro and a hawk flew right in front of me. he turned to face me and sort of looked like he was just hovering in midair(u know how time slows way down at the point of impact) his wings looked about 32" wide and his talons were outstretched facing me like the eagle pics you see sometimes. He wouldhave knocked me slam off the bike had we collided. Lucky for us both he got out of the way...

RE: Critter Hitters
A couple of years ago I nearly hit two different black bears on two occasions! Usually, it's deer in PA. Didn't see one that summer...But the bears were everywhere!
i've come close to hitting a squirrel a time or two but have been lucky. last summer my partner hit a deer and it was not too pretty between the bike damage and his damage. i think i'll try not to do that. on a side note , another buddy works for BART- Bay Area Rapid Transit, and he has 46 confirmed bird kills while driving his train.
scored a rabbit one morning, kinda a squish feel, scored a wood chuck with the right fwd control, bike shook on that one, stopped for a gator crossing the road at night near a swampy area at the cabbage patch going home after some nite activities. i'll throw in a miss on a whitetail deer here in michigan. iconsider myself pretty lucky.
