I am looking to replace my stock seat and I would like to know what you guys think of the quality of Harley custom seats as compared to some of the independent seat makers such as Mustang and Corbin. This is one product in the Harley catalog that dosen't seem overpriced.
If you like a certain style then go for it! good seats. I wanted something different so I got a seat from american classic motors, Its a danny gray and it fits n looks well good.
I would consider finding a good upholstery shop and doing mods to yours if the overall style is ok. Iâve had the local shop modify the passenger seat for my wife and am going to have them install the gel pack this winter.
Mean City Cycles. Talk to Allen. He's a great guy and does excellent work. He's one of the vendors on the forum. Did my seat and getting ready to send him my husband's. Check out his website. It gives all the prices.
Did the same thing as wideguy , no complaints about comfort and looks OK but there is a mustang seat in the future for sure. By the way , Corbin is supposed to have really really bad customer service.
In general, I think the quality of the HD catalog seats is pretty good, depending on what you get. The Sundowner for the Wideglide is comfortable, doesn't look that great. Kinda like a giant slug from the rear side. I changed it to a Custom Sidekick which I snagged at a dealer blowout. That looks really good and turned out to be surprisingly comfortable, with good back support.
The Sundowner on my Heritage feels much more firm than the stock seat (and the DWG Sundowner) but on a long run doesn't make my rear ache. Good seat, lower and back a bit from stock.
