Default Shifting into neutral????? update

I was going to make this a poll, but thought it would be pointless.

I just wanted to know how many of you guys will shift the bike into neutral when stopped at a red light, and how many will just disengage the clutch and keep the bike in first gear ready to pull away.

I am not going to say what I do or why I do it, but I am quite sure that all you old school guys will know the correct answer.

OK....I used to always pop it into neutral for any red light just to put less wear and tear on the clutch...right, but now I wait until there is at least one car in line behind me before I take it out of gear....just in case one of those non bike seeing jerk offs is heading in my direction. I would hate to see what I would do to anyone who had the ***** to rear end me...
In my truck, I always put it into neutral to save as much clutch as I can.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me also say this.....I been riding full size street bikes for just under 30 years now....and I am not talking about riding the back country roads or some rural setting (although I wish it was). I am talking about riding in and around new York City, and I never ever even came close to getting rear ended. Now that could be luck or it could be just that people driving in this area must stay a bit more alert, and are rarely the first one stopped at a red light....I dont know which. I aint saying it could never happen....I am just saying it never happened to me in 30 years. I still ride my mirrors like a ****...all the time...even stopped at a red light!

Clutch in, ready to roll! I also keep enough space in front of me to roll around if required!

Depends on the red light, if it is a busy intersection and a very long light then neutral it is. If it's a short light keep the clutch in .

I'm now adopting this practice. Thanks for the post. Never thought about it.

Depends if I been riding in traffic all day and my clutch hand is tired. Is this a test? If it is, I want a chance to answer again.
