Gotta admit he knows how to stir the pot, seems calm enough wading thru the flames, might be OK when he settles down. Who Knows?

I received the post via email with the story as told. I thought it interesting and never thought to verify it through Snopes. While it was graphic, it wasn't blood and guts and thought it would be accepted here. I apologize sincerely if it upset anyone as that was not my intentions. I also didn't realize it had been here before.

Oh, I wished you would have warned us about the graphic nature of these photos. Just so you know ... what you are looking at is most definately a deceased person who died not only tragically, but violently .... emphasis on "person". ... How would you feel if this was YOUR son and people were using it as kick at the helmet law arguement. Let's show a little respect, shall we?

Prayers to the family.
I normally would agree with you. But there are some things to consider.
What if it wasn't a truck?
What if it had been a car. With a family inside? YOUR family maybe?
Such a crash would have wiped out anybody inside the car who was on the direct path of this "failed stuntman".
Still inclined to compassion?
Not to mention the damage to the biker community in general.
"We have to do something to save these kids"... And we all know what is the knee jerk "jerk" reaction to such accidents: preemptive lawmaking, with freedom killing laws. For our own good, obviously.
Doing 125 mph, that is 55,5 m/sec (the velocity of an arrow shot by a low-power target bow) is plain DUMB.
This guy parents said the only right thing to say: if this can discourage someone to do the same and end in a worst tragedy, it's not in vain.

I've been on the "receiving" side once, I was very, VERY lucky, and nobody in my car was hurt. I didn't do anything wrong, I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't want to test my luck again, and it changed my view on certain "stunts" a lot.
Every time I see one of these dorks splat against something, I think "Thanks god it wasn't me on the other side, and one less chance next time it may be me".
It may seem harsh and ruthless, but it's nonetheless true, and the world won't change to fluffy when you're recklessly going 125 mph and have a lapse in your skill just because you are young. It remains hard and sharp.

I say no, don't delete this post. Let it be out in the open. Stupid = death, inattentiveness = death, accidents can = death.

Just because you wear a full faced helmet, doesn't mean your safer then those who don't wear a helmet at all.

Don't delete this just because this doesn't support your Pro-manditory helmet law mentality.

Actually it's not the first time I wonder if wearing a lot of "protective" apparel may make someone feel "safer" and thus more prone to reckless behaviour. And, since the whole point in safety is NOT TO CRASH, it could actually LOWER the overal rider's safety (obviously in such case the wrong lies not in the protective apparel, which DOES improve your chances, but in the head of those who misuse it).

Well, the fact is that the last 2 states to make a manditory helmet law had in increase in death percentage per accident than the previous year. The high speed collisions, not much was going to save the victims, it was a shock that the slower speed accidents were the worst. Not the falling off sliding ones. But the accidents where people pulled out in front of bikers and they hit the sides of vehicles. The addition 2lbs of weight the helmets provided caused blunt head trauma, like the injury that killed Dale Earnhardt. The head snapped forward on impact and severed the spinal cord causing instant death to these bikers.

My brother in-law wiped out on his bike this last weekend, slid on his face and hit the curb. No helmet, plenty of stiches. He is going to be ok though, no broken bones.

With or without a helmet, we are all taking our chances out there, ride safe.
