The siskiyous have been closed most of the time for the last week or so... lots and lots of snow. Late February still can be risky. If you leave yourself a little extra time, around 3-4 hours you can get off of I-5 at hwy 38 which is exit 162. Take it over to Reedsport then down the coast and through the redwoods.

Very cold at that time of year. You will at least have snow on the ground, if not slush on the highway after a storm.

Siskiyou summit is only about 4100 feet or so if I remember right. Seriously, it the freeway isn't closed for a really exceptional storm, and you have some form of traction tires, it's not that big a deal. We ain't talking Beartooth Pass here.
