Actually, I was talking about riding down in Tennessee and area during a heat wave in July a couple of years ago, when the temps were up in the 110F+ zone. I'd get up at 7am and it was already in the high 80s. By noon, I was sizzling, hehehe...
Yep, I tried the Red Wings, takes forever to break them in. I tried the Harley boots, same thing. Theyare allgreat to ride in and look cool. If you have to do any walking you're going to be sore. Any boot with a big heal is going to be uncomfortable. I thought about who wears boots all day and has to walk a lot in them and then I saw a state cop wearing boots. I seached and found www.copshoes. I'm wearing boots worn by the swat guys. They're black and nylon, have laces up the front and a zipper up the side, steel toes, are 8" high and were comforatable right out of the box. They are also pretty light. They have a low heel and a grippy sole that may be good for you guys with foot pegs. And the best part, they're half the price of the designer, "I'm a bad ***" boots.

110????? Gotta give credit to anyone that can sit in traffic in those temps.........I'd rather put chains on and ride in the snow
It was hot, but we were sticking to secondary roads, and there wasn't much traffic, so most of the time were moving. We got about 5 or days in a row of those kinds of temps, and I'm not complaining one bit! I love the heat (as long as it isn't too humid), so I was in Hog heaven, hehehehe...
Last summer on my way to Nashville from Cincinnati, I got stuck in a traffic jam when it was in the high 90s. I had to pull off the highway and go to a gas station to get off the bike, and drink some liquids! Wound up pounding down a 750ml bottle of Gatorade. That was really hot and uncomfortable!
I wear pull-on boots only, like harness boots or engineer boots, with rubber soles for traction. Leather breathes better than any synthetic and also blocks the wind better, so they are good for hot or cooler weather. Not having to lace a boot tightly around your foot also helps keep your feet cooler since air can circulate, and the shaft on pull-on boots fills your pantleg so wind doesn't blow up in there. When I put my feet on the ground at stops, I want to make sure they won't slip on any gravel or sand that might have collectd at the intersection, so rubber soles are a must. I prefer Vibram lug soles.
The best boots are Wesco, made in Oregon, but they have gotten way pricey. They can be custom made to fit you. Red Wind and Chippewa are also good, and mostly made in the US.
I did a similar search for boots. Looked and Looked, but couldn't find anything I liked. That was until I found my Dr. Martins. Thereare awesome. They have a flexible sole, and are very confortable. I wear them everyway. I got them from Zappos. Free shipping BOTH ways. Can't beat that.
