Default Front brake switch?

I recently noticed that the brake light doesn't function when I pull the front brake lever anymore. The rear works fine. I am assuming this is the front brake switch. Anything else you can think of that this might be? It used to work fine. I am not sure when it stopped working. How simple is replacement on this item? I am going to the stealer today and want to know if I should pick up a new switch. Thanks guys. Oh, It's been a long time since I changed the bars and it worked fine after that so it wasn't that that broke it either. I think it is just worn out. 26K miles now.

The switch is in the right housing and isn't that difficult to change. Double check that no wires are messed up between the plug and the switch, but most likely you just need to slap a new switch in there.

I changed out the front brake switch on my 03 flstci about six months ago. Wasn't hard to do but it took awhile. Had to split throttle , brake lever clamp. Switch is located under lever. New switch comes with long tail wire thats supposed to go all the way back to the connector under the seat. There was no way that would snake through the existing wiring harness without hanging and I wasn't going to run two wires outside of the existing wiring harness all the way back to the connector. I ended up rolling back the harness cover at the clamp--cut existing wires --soildered[not sure of spelling]wires together --heat shrunk new wire cover ---and rolled existing wire cover back over. Water tight--looks right and should last till next switch gives up the ghost. Took about 45 minutes to do right. Someone else my have a better idea or at least a smartass answer.

My foot switch went out on a 06. Damn near got me killed cause I use the foot brake in traffic when turning. After two near rear end collisions , I checked it and sure enough it was gone.

Thought the dealer wold fix it under warranty as I was only one week past but Nooooo.
Cost me about $100 including labor.

Sheesh! That's nice of 'em. I guess they figured that since it was a safety item you didn't have a choice but to fork out the cash.

I had a broken wire right at the switch. I found out when I had the cruise control on and tapped the rear brake to shut it off, ah it didn't go off. Made me pucker for a second

I have worked at car dealers for over 10 years and in this case we would normally cover it (internally) so long as the customer either bought the vehicle from us or regularly serviced it with us. Internal cost for the repair would most likely be in the $30-$40 range and that is a small price to pay to keep a loyal customer.

It all depends on the circumstance though.
