many of us who served under old glory really understand what freedom is really all about. then thereare some who want or desire the clean look. then it all goes back to one of those freedoms, freedom of expression. myself, served 24 years in the U.S.N., I've seen all kinds of supression around this world and I proudly fly "Old Glory" on both of my dynasand receive many favorable comments for it from passerbys. ride safe. why not start another poll?
After a crosswind put me in a ditch and totalled an EGC a few years back, no more Tourpak and no more flags. The big Old Glory patch on my back is good enough.
I had a flag on the antenna of my Gold Wing once. By the end of the trip it was in shreds. Maybe I'm just weird, but I didn't like the feeling of having desecrated my country's flag. We fly both the Canadian and Alberta provincial flags off the front of the house in the summer. If we're travelling, I have an Alberta licence plate to show I'm Canadian.
For Elginator; Instead of flying an actual flag off your bike, how about a fridge magnet of The Stars & Stripes? Shows your pride without doing heavy mods to the bike, and the soft magnet wouldn't bugger up the paint too much either. Just an idea...

Actually looks better with a 3x5, but this was taken just before winter tear down and storage, so just has the "road" flag on it. N JOY
On holidays like Memorial Day, the 4th of July, etc, I put 6"x10" flags every 10 ft the length of our property (280') on the shoulder of the street. There is a 4x6 is flying from a house mount holder onthe power pole at the beginning of the prop, and a 6x10' is flying from the flagpole in front of the house. It has a dusk til dawn automatic spot on it. Come spring, the flagpole is surrounded by a flower garden, you guessed it, red, white, and blue petunias, in the shape of a flag. Last year was just a shade over $250 for the flowers. Dad served WW2, Viet vet here, and have 2 nephewson the way to Iraq in March.
