I am desparately looking for help. I am now in the uncomfortable position of deciding my brothers future. He has been into bikes his entire 53 years and is now not capable of living on his own. He is in a nursing home, but I can't leave him there. Being a biker is the only life he knows.
Alot of unknowns. Is his problem mental or physical? Is he financially independent or not? Is he on welfare? If you can't leave him in a nursing home, what can you do? What's the question?????

You answered your own question if you had one. YOU cant leave him their and if was my brother I couldnt either. Get him a computer and get him on this forum seriously. He cant ride but he can hang out with fellow bikers here. Let him live his last days as happy as he can. If I couldnt ride I would want someone to wheel chair me around bikes and put me on the forum.
There is so much information that is needed in order to make an informed opinion. Wish I could help you, but not knowing all the details makes it hard to give advice.
You retards,
If his brother has been instintutionalized, you think he is able to work a computer, let alone a Harley. Bro, give your loved one lots of visits- best of care(all that you can afford), and tell all of hif family and friends of his state so that they can make peace like him ..God bless

He has "Wernicke-Korsakoff Dementia". It is a dementia caused from alcohol abuse and lack of nutrition/vitamins to the brain. When I was called he was almost dead, maybe a couple more days, if he hadn't gotten to a hospital. It's been 2 years and he has recovered as much as he is going to. He's been in and out of the hospital because hehas fallen(being drunk-I don't know how he got it), he has cut himself and it became infected and he didn't tell anyone. He remembers the distant past, but not the last 3 - 5 yearsor anything you tell himnow. He has heart problems, circulatory, among other things caused by the abuse to his body.We can't stop him from wanting to drink since he can't remember what we just told him 5 minutes ago. He just wants to be on his own and can't comprehend the danger he would be in if he was on his own. It would be like a death sentence to give him what he wants, but so is staying in a nursing home. His friends can't stand to see him there so they don't visit. People tell me there is nothing I can do, but it just eats away at me every day.
