yesterday (sunday march 2nd) saw a number of riders. 55 degrees out
wasn't able to get mine out, hibernating at a friends. kinda glad - lots of salt still on the road and just an occasional patch of ice. lots of standing water. suppose to get cold again this week and possibly some more accumulation of snow.
but....................
what about all those damned POT HOLES. everywhere. the hot cold freeze melt that has happened here has created worse road conditions than i have seen in years and years.
almost makes me nervous to take the bike out until some road work gets done - remember i said almost.
so has anyone damanged a bike after hitting a pothole? one there that you just couldn't avoid, or maybe one hidden under water, or the fact that the road was like a mine field and you just couldn't get through it without hitting one.
I'll bet our potholes here in Michigan are bigger than your potholes in Illinois and Michigan doesn't have the money to fix them. Michigan roads are among the worst in the nation.

Rode my old 77 XLCH in Detroit in 1979. Hit one of your 'potholes'. Think the old sporty is still in it!

Sounds like this has the makin's of a "Pothole Picture" thread. But instead of: Na Na Na NANA Na, my Dad's bigger than your Dad, it would be Pothole in place of Dad.
Potholes on a hardtail SUCK big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]
H*ll, even the "bump" resulting from the "fill" job, sux big time.
We get our share of "canyons" here in Mn, too. Couple of them could be hysterical landmarks.
barjbar, they have "designed" the roads in Mich. that way to "slow" down the rabid bikers.
Pot holes? You wanna talk about pot holes, driving down my street my car is bouncing around cause of all the flippen dips and holes. About to the point where I need to stand up when I'm gonna hit one to save my back from jarring.
I can't believe there are states with worse roads than here in Louisiana. I know I'm going to get pulled over for a breath test one day because it looks like I'm riding a slalom course when going down the road here. Miss the pothole - over to the side to miss the pressure ridge - miss the bump from the filled pothole - over to the side to miss the pressure ridge - in the other lane to miss the big glob of patch that covers the entire lane for 30 feet - etc. I think a dirt bike would be the best ride for Louisiana roads. Then you could stand up on the pegs and take advantage of all that suspension travel. Might even catch enough air to do a complete flip.
