Im sorry but what does "pack a Lunch pal" mean ? I really claim nothing with my post name. Maybe I should have made it "guy who dosent know much about harleys but wants to learn". That ones to long I think. Really Im not trying to start any crap with you man .
I see your from Norfolk ,now we cant have two good ole Va boys picking on each other can we ?
Welcome to the post. The term "pack a lunch" refers to "preparing to be around long enough to have something to eat". Nothing in here should be taken personal.....One must have a thick skin when venturing thru these posts. You will have no problems finding answers in here. Enjoy the ride!

This place isn't so bad once you get to know everyone. Everyone should remember what it was like when they first started to learn about their bike and it's maker.

I have not posted much on this board but read all the posts daily. I think that the reason some are getting snippy or Pi$$y is cause its almost spring. It has been a long winter and everyone is ready to get out and ride. I laugh at most of it after I see where the person is from and find out they are sitting in the house with a foot of snow outside.

This one is simple ,and Im sure most of you know ,but Im new and learning.

Question 1 On the current model years the 883 and the 1200 are on the sportster and the rubber mounted 1584cc twin cam 96 on the Dynas and the 1584cc twin cam 96B rigid mounted counter balanced on the Softails . Then I guess the V rods and buels have something else. Is all this correct?

Question 2 , What is the correct sequence of the motors as far as what years did they start/stop. Pan head ,shovel head (I have no idea what was first ,then what , I know about the EVO then what did that run until what they have now? See, I dont know jack. Im sure I missed a bunch.
VA,
For the most part you asked a valid question without retoric andsencerity. These as well as other forums are much like the local jobforce where there are people who prey on anyone who they feel they can. Most people are willing to help without any dismay to be cast, howeverthere are a few who seem to think it is their right to bully, pick, degrade, scruitinize and manufactor near elusive rational to thedisjunctive personalitys they have, then try to justify their actions by those who they mimic. Don't let those few disappoint you and by all means be willing to defend yourself based on their irrational preceptions; this often puts them in their place and is humerous to others. Now, we all kid around and take the forum lightly at times but yes, thick skin and a since of who you are is important to remember.

Sorry if you thought my reply wasn't appropriate.
I gave you a link to the history section on this site, lots of good information there.
Also Google can be used to find more sites (like the one you found).

It's always best (and good netiquette) to use the search function on a forum, before asking a question that's likely to have been made by a thousand users before you.
Such a search would present this

https://www.hdforums.com/m_1520910/tm.htm

as first item.

This because some users have answered the same question over, and over, and over again.
So, don't hold against them that they didn't answer your question.
After all, forums are kept on big servers with all their previous threads exactly because they become, over time, an easily browseable knowledge base.

You'll find a lot of useful information on wikipedia as well, which also has the chronology of HD engines in a practical, easy-to-read table. The engines, in fact, didn't come "one after the other". Actually, some engines were in production together (as it is today with the Evo and "Fat Head" engines).
