Question: Can I buy one unit andswitch it betweenboth my car and bike?
After going on several long trips with friends who use a unit in their vehicle, I'm really sold on the benefit of a GPS unit. Even around town locally, if I have an address I wouldn't need to slow down and hunt for a location.
Sure, but I recommend you buy a unit that's rated for motorcycle use. They are both weatherproof and ruggedized (vibration rated). My Garmin included the auto. mount and power cord as well.
What everyone else said. I am waiting on my delivery. I went with the TomTom and only time will dell if it works well or not.
It doesn't have everything that the zumo 550 has, but it has a few things that the zumo doesn't have.
Dell home has a sale for a few more days and it's 476 shipped which is about $1500 less than I could find a zumo 550 and that's before buying a headset for the zumo. So who knows, right?
I don't know where ur shopping but a new Garmin Zumo 550 can be had for about 650. And if you check out the differences the new Garmins use a newer engine for computation than most of the others which I think is the reason for a little more money.
Having said that, I'm not sure I want to spend that much...yet.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm too cheap to spend $650. I was thinking less than $300. (I said I was cheap)
The Garmin Street Pilot can be had for about $260. I would have to come up with a mounting system for the bike, I guess.
I still go by the moss grows on the north side of the tree. Didn't work last year on a ride through the south west. But, the sun rises in the east still worked.

Check out "Ram Mounts". They have a mount for your bike.
I've got the Zumo 550 and its awesome. The kit comes with MC mounting gear plus one for the car. Pops in and out in a snap. We use Garmin Nuvi's at work and they are great too, just far fewer features. The water-resistancy is a concern and lead me to buy the Zumo. I know more than one guy that has a Nuvi on his bike and they report no problems. Good luck.

I have a Garmin Quest with mounts for the car and bike. I also have gone riding, intentionally got lost, and then use the Quest to find my way back. It's the model Harley sells for about $300 more because it has the HD emblem on it. It's excellent but I've had it 2 years and there may be better ones now. Mine tells me where gas stations, ATM machines, resteraunts, movies, etc are where ever I am.

I've got a Mio C220, Radio Shack for 140 bucks. I have the worlds worst sense of direction. We go riging 'that a way', and when it is time to go home, I velcro the unit to my tank bib hit home, and it lays out a route. Do I NEED it....no, I WANTED it.
