I use one for my car, and so I thought I would use the same one on my bike just interchange them, but what a GPS does for me is give me the freedom to ride and get lost! And no matter what as long as it can see the sky I can hit "Plan route Home" and it'll route me back.

I think riding is about freedom, and the GPS offers me the freedom to explore and go where I want with the peace of mind that I can get back home. Until I get lost the mount and GPS stay in my tour pack.

I don't have one for the bike yet. I have been using them in the woods for years. I started hunting whitetails on thousands of acres of wildlife management areas. I don't exactly have a super sense of direction. I'd be lost in a hurry trying to find my stand in the dark in the middle of the woods. I still use my handheld unit while riding sometimes. It has maps but it's not as fancy as the new ones.

I bought one for the car years ago and I noticed that it changed my driving habits. First of all, if I was stuck in traffic, I would pull off at the first exit, and let the GPS auto-reroute me - no need to worry about getting lost, and I could zip thru the surface streets. The other thing I noticed was that I could see the "terrain". I noticed lakes, rivers, etc, that I never really new existed before, cause I was always taking the main roads. I was always a little worried about getting lost in a strange area, especially since I usually only had 1/2 tank of gas when I wanted to explore. With a GPS, I don't worry about that, and I can zoom out the map and see that little road follows the river for miles and miles and looks good. I can also check for the closest gas station or restuarant and get turn by turn directions to there in case I need it. I was in lake geneva ona sunday evening heading back to Chicago with the rest of the 9.5 million folks doing the same thing in bumper to bumper traffic and I jumped on the side roads and was able to bypass most of the congestion.

The GPS Gives me Freedom to explore and enjoy my riding experieces.

What I like about my GPS is not directions. It is estimated time of arrival, mileages, checking my speedo against the "real" time and finding needed services such as gas, lodging, food and even points of interest. It has a wealth of information most people don't even consider. I would not be without it. Directionsare a bonus but maybe the least important to me. Unless of course I am out of my comfort zone, then that too is invaluable. GET ONE! I have the Garmin ZUMO 450 and love it. They do more then most realize IMO. It is a lot like a freind of mine once said. "what good is the internet?"

I like being able to concentrate on the ride, rather than worrying about missing the next turn.
When you get low on fuel, its nice to push a button & see how far away the Gas stations are. Need supplies, push a button, want BBQ, push a button and you are on your way.
Trip computers are very cool & having XM built in is nice to have.

I love being able to find restaurants or other POI in strange towns.
