The bike I just bought has leather bags. I onlyuse them on long trips. I covered them and put them in plastic containers. Is this a good way to keep them or is their a better way. They are 2003 anniversary bags. Thanks
Alan,.. You didn't say where you live, but if it is in a humid climate, they will mildew...even inside sealed plastic. At least treat them between storings with some leather dressing, and place some kind of water absorbing packet in the plastic with the bags. Gun safe dealers can get these water absortion "biscuits".. they're much bigger than those little packets inside electronics packing. Hey, I'm no expert, but I hope this helps.
Definatly pack something to absorbe moisture...Its MUST DO!!
Your bags will mildew, and once that starts...it never stops..I keep my wifes bags in the basement on a shelf when not in use I might cover them with a towel, but nothing more, and thats just to keep dust off them.
Treating your leather products is the best way to make them last, and remain looking good. Should be done several times a year to avoid the leather drying out and cracking.
