I just replaced mine from my 05, three years old and it wasn't starting as crisp last fall when temps were 20-30 so I figured it was time. Probable could have made another year or two with a tender and some luck but I don't want to be stranded somewhere because I was to cheap to drop $85 on a battery. Just my .02
I get 3-4 yrs out of mine,i have two tenders but to lazy to plug them in in the winter so they usally go dead(just about)or freeze....Ive replaced my 01 Electra once and my 07 needs a charge(clicks),O-well..and Ive lost trac on my 80flt....
Miles are also important not just time.
Fb 96 with 45,000 just put third one in first two went just over 5 years.
Wisconsin winters are hard on a battery as are cold starts on 30 degree days.
A good true battey tender not a charger when you not going to use it for a couple
weeks will help them last.
There are 3 grades of batteries top shelf those in the middle and walmart.
good batterys last if cared for
