I agree, I have tried to tell here that, but apparently she isn't listening. It's her money not mine. She is just a friend from work, not my girl, so I don't have to worry about it. I also told her to go look at the Hondas and save some money.
What kind of a friend are you, to tell her to buy a HONDA!! She should go get a real friend and not a forum TROLL!!!!
It'll never happen. The only way you will get a deal like that is at the end of the summer when the 09's are out. They might give you $500 off since they need to get rid of the 08's.
They have an advertised sale of "We will beat any other dealers offer by $500". So right away, I can go to one of the 3 other dealers in the area and get a quote for $500 under MSRP and then we are at $1000 under MSRP. I don't think you guys realize how much mark up there is on these bikes and how bad these local dealerships are hurting. They have been letting go of sales people to save money. I bought an 07 in Nov 06 for $500 under MSRP with $500 acceesories as well, so I don't see a problem here. Are you guys salesmen or just mad cause you paid MSRP?
Make sure you get them to quote fees/price in writing. I called a dealer in FL that was $1000 off MSRP, but when he sent me the quote in writing it had a $795 processing fee added.
You can do $1000 off easily...tons of dealers offer $1000 gift cards when purchased at MSRP, simply tell them you want the 1k off the msrp instead...I know my dealer will do it
LOL LunchBox, I am hardly a forum troll. I have 2 Harleys myself and as you can see have been a member herefor a little while. This girl just learned how to ride a bike and bought a used 1993 Sportster that will only do 70 mph on the highway at best, I am just trying to get her on a bigger bike so she can safely ride on the highway, the Honda VTX or Shadow is a nice bike for the money, I have several friends that own these. I personally would not buy one, but in this situation, I would hate for her to spend $18,000 on a bike and then decide she doesn't like to ride anymore. I was the one that introduced her to the Harley Davidson line of motorcycles in the beginning and suggested the Heritage as a bike that would fit herwell, but I also told her about other options just to make sure she had looked at everything before purchasing. I hope I didn't get you too upset.

Actually I have bought 2 from the local dealership and you get 2 free t-shirts and a card for 10% off accessories without even negotiating. Where do you guys live where they are so mean? FL must be great for buying a bike. I'll let you know how she makes out, but they already are offering $500 off MSRP to start with, so....
