Actually I have bought 2 from the local dealership and you get 2 free t-shirts and a card for 10% off accessories without even negotiating. Where do you guys live where they are so mean? FL must be great for buying a bike. I'll let you know how she makes out, but they already are offering $500 off MSRP to start with, so....
FL is a great place to buy.I say go for it!! I just bought a new SG. I had to wait 2 hours to get my deal to the finance guy. There were 4 people ahead of me and 8 behind me waiting to sign. They are swamped with deals now. They had a record month. Our housingmarket here in Texas is the third best in the nation now...can you say "oil"? Cha-ching!
I have some friends that told me about dealers in different parts of the country and the offers they are giving. Here I paid MSRP, but two frineds said their closest dealers were advertising 500 below. If they are having a badstart to the yearthey may take the offer, beside which you arent out anything if they say no, go for it.
Find the guy here who guarantees his dealer will sell for $1K under MSRP with no other hidden costs, and hold his feet to the fire![sm=laughingsmilie.gif]
Make the offer, If they take it happy riding, if they don't up the offer. As for buying a metric, wouldn't suggest it to an enemy let alone a "Friend". Save a little money now loose a ton when you sell it. Granted the days of buying a Harley and riding it a couple years and getting your money back are gone but resale is still lots higher on the Harly than Metric. Sure every blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while but over all the metric bikes don't bring squat when you sell. Just My .02
Debi bought the 2008 Heritage Softail in white today for $17,245.00, they wanted $18,950 which included the up charge for white paint and their prep and delivery fees, so she did better than I thought. That is $1,700 off of the sticker, it helps when you have 3 dealerships within the area and they will try to counter each others offer.
Why buy new at all with the current market flooded with used bikes that are very low mileage and still under warranty? There sure are a lot of distressed sales out there with people that just have to bail on them.
Ditto that. With a dealer, if they figure you have the hots for a bike, your chances of getting a reduction in price are almost nil. A late model, low mileage bike from a private party is still your best bet.
