I have "Water Proof" boots. Expensive but worth it.
For gloves I bought Eskimo ice fishing mittens that have a wool liner and water-proof textured cover. Took the liner out and the cover fits over my leather gloves. Once leather gloves get soaked they suck.
i have the harley 2 pc rain suit - not the gore tex one - i felt cheap that day.
for boots - i have the fxrg HD boots and have had them in a downpour (there were tornadoes in the area) as well as an all day drizzle/rain and both times my feet remained dry
for gloves - i stopped at a HD dealer in ohio andbought a pair of HD waterproof gloves - that was at the start of that downpour mentioned above - andput my leather gaunlets away and put on the waterproof and they worked like a champ - dry hands and good feeling of the controls. i don't remember how much they cost, but i have used them in wet ever since and no prob when its wet.
I picked up a pair of Rain-Off overgloves. 100% waterproof...and also provide decent windbreak against the cold. I wear 'em over my winter gloves in extreme cold even when it's not rainin.
I got caught in your Va rain this weekend. I have a HD rainsuit and the overboots. The boots are great and would recommend them. Cannot help with the gloves.
+2 or 3 on the neoprene gloves. Cabela's gore-tex 2 piece raingear(parka top/bibs combo). Got some rain gators from Whitehorse I believe. They work ok, not great. Like being able to put my actual boot on the ground versus some covering.
