Of course your insurance will also depend on what part of the country you live in. Here is my story. Was with General Casualty for over 20 years. Paid 70 bucks a month for many years. Last year I decided to move to another county. Rate went to $129.00 a month. Can't do it. Shopped around, decided on Geico. I pay $53.00 a month full coverage. 100/300. 500 deduct. blah blah blah. That was on my car. Motorcycle....I pay $313.00 for the year...full coverage. pretty good deal for me.
Man I hate gettine butt raped on my insurance, I pay almost $1000 a year for my bike, and thats with my cars, house and bike all with the same company, i have shpped around and can not find a better deal. If one is cheaper the others are more expensive, i tried doing just the bike someplace else as well and got quotes up to 2k a year!!! and yes this is with me being ticket and accident free and 31 years old
Some insurance companies also use your credit rating. Statictically (I know, I hate that word also), the lower your credit rating the more likely you are to file a claim.
Anyway, that's why progressive displays their competitions rates along with their's on the site. They want to maximize their profits by steering potential problems to their competition.
I have Progressive and had a couple of small claims. They've been very good and the rates for all 3 bikes is about $1,000 a year. A poor credit score can double your rate.
Have had progressive for 8 year autos and boat. Added 08 Dyna LR for 420/year, full coverage $200 deductable. Had two auto claims, other's fault. Conceirge claims service took my car, gave me a loaner, returned my car fixed in 4 days. No hassle.
No offense, but if you accepted a settlement that wasn't good enough, that's your own responsibilty.
I have had Progressive for 8 years best rate I have found and I no problems or claims.
When did credit scores start to play a part in insurance prices. My point is that insurance is selling you a sevice that you pay for in advance and if you fail to make a payment they can dump you and end the relationship. They are not loaning you money like a bank would so what does your credit rating have to do with it. We seem to be relying an awful lot on a credit rating for a service that is irrelevent. I know back in the 70's and 80's the insurance companies relied on your age and driving record for your rates, so whats changed. Looks to me like the insurance companies are increasing their profits by raising or giving rates on poor credit worthiness and not for the reality of how your driving record. Sorry for getting on the soapbox just had to put in my .02.
Insurance companies have been using credit scores to establish your overall "worthiness" for some time. They claim that the lower your credit score, the higher your risk is. There is some kind of method to their madness. Most, if not all companies do this now.
FWIW, I also have progressive. '08 Ultra $341 per year, $500 deductible, $1K toward custom parts and equipment.
I started with a Honda reflex 250. I got my coverage on line at the Progressive site. High limits 250/500 and full coverage with $500 deduct-$290 per year. Then I bought a Sporty and added it to the policy. The rate went to $385. Before I said yes, I went to the gecko's website. They had boasted about low MC rates. For the same coveraage and limits, they wanted $930. No thanks.

I was paying 1665 a year with STate Farm. Called Progressive and saved over 800 bucks a year. I have both my cars and my house still with State Farm, but SF couldn't touch the bike insurance even with raising all my deductibles. 800 bucks a year savings is well worth it for me. Now I pay 74 bucks a month for two bikes instead of 140 bucks.
