I bought my bike off the dealer as is. It only had 1,000 on it.

Why did you come to that conclusion?

The Dealer does not warranty anything. All the warranty comes from the manufactuer. If in deed it is a new motorcycle purchased from a franchised Harley Davidson dealer.

Not me. The new bike on the showroom floor has a 2 year warranty. An "as is" sale to means you take it "as is" and has zero warranty.

Most dealers (including the one I work at) want as much warranty work as they can get.......no such thing as "as is" on a new bike

I would have had to of gotten a very very good deal to get NO WARRANTY on a new bike. Like Fat Henry said, the manufacturer gives the warranty. The dealer charges the manufacturer for warranty work, some even slip in pick up and delivery fees.

I've taken up doing my own maintenance on the bike. I found issues that the dealer said would have been covered under warrantee, but since I do the wrenching I get no support on replacement hardware. So as long as I do my own work, the hardware is not warranteed.

Plus I have made many modifications to get it to run what I belive to be 'right' (V&H, SERT, dyno, AC, ...). I think a similar scenario would play out should most any issue come up, since the motor is modified I would be on my own for motor issues.

I like the bike the wayI have itnow, less pinging, runs smoother across a wider RPM range, sounds better. I don't have any feeling that anything is wrong with it. But the reality sinks in, to make it like I want it, pretty much no warrantee on any of it.

Using your logic, every item one buys is bought "as is". If this is the way that you want to look at it, fine with me. It's all semantics.

I've seen some lame posts, but I didn't think this is the dumbest ever. Looks like most people don't have any issue with warrantee support.
Going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up my parts to fix a frozen rear axle. Posts in this forum suggested swapping out the bearings when you have to beat the axle out hard. I waspissed about having to buy the parts to fix this on an '07.
