That's a good review. Have been a long time subscriber to MC. My friend's Roadliner is sweet... despite the plastic . And the Yam/Star RL has one of the finer metric exhaust notes. Deep and low. And it was balanced versus brainless posts here like H-D's can't handle, H-D's perform poorly, and on and on ad nauseum.
Nobody said Harleys can't handle or perform poorly. I said that my friends Fatboy didn't perform as well as my V2K. I made a specific motorcycle vs specific motorcycle comparison. Compared to other cruisers the Fatboy may do better. Don't accuse me of bashing Harleys. I never said any of those things about H-D as a whole, but you lumped all metrics into one boat with your comments. You're the one making brainless generalizations.
Reread skater69's post. It is what I was responding to.Research the thread and be informed. Then you jumped in with the "destroy" remarks, andI reply with facts from MCNdisprovingthe validity of your description.
Those are generalizations whether you recognize it or not.
...
Whether H-D's are among the finest in fit/finish, whether H-D's have chrome versus plastic, etc. these aren't "generalizations", but facts. These are easily observable.
The review you note above has the Vulcan and the Springer tied for second, not the Vulcan ahead of the H-D. And I'm with you when it comes to defense. When the immense proportions of the Vulcan are noted, I'm ready to back that up with industry observations not my own. When you note the Vulcan "destroys" the H-D you open the door and I seek proof/evidence. Don't mess with me on logic!
You're still not getting it are you? When you say (insert brand here) has better fit and finish than other motorcycles you are generalizing. If you say my (insert make/model here) has better fit/finish than (insert different make/model here) now we have an objective opportunity to decide. We compare one specific bike to another specific bike. The result is demonstrable and isn't a generalization. Get it? One is not like the other.
I already backed off on the 'destroy' comment so I assume you're running out of ammo since you're rehashing a point I already conceded..
V2k....the 2000 vulcan has more power..so what...the v-rod has less cubes and will smoke it...and a busa would smoke a v-rod ...whatever...awrx sti will smoke a mercedes 350E...but if I could afford eitherI would take the mercedes any day...why? becausejust like a harley,it has class...
You know, I answer your questions... like "No one says H-D's handle poorly", giving you the post proving you wrong. I show how you are the one opening the door to defenseless positions, and you then ignore the factual response and try to go on to something else. Very unimpressive. When you can't see how the industry reports no one comes close to H-D fit/finish, it is a FACT that this is reported. It is also a shared observation by just about every open-minded person whether you like it or not.
Hey, didn't you write "Forgive me for getting a little off track with this guy. It won't happen again." Is this another lapse?
Buying a Harley is like paying $3,000 for a 13" black & white TV and telling people it's better than a 42" flatscreen....LOL.
If you want to ride a metric wannabe well, good for you..enjoy.... I just know that I ride the real deal and I don't need to worry about defending it..
