My dealer has a big bell that you ring once you seal the deal on a new bike, anytime I have been in there its ringing at least once. I think they hit 30 bikes in feb when I bought mine. Given the size of the place (uh, palace) I don't know if thats thriving business, but bikes are moving.

I was in Rossmeyer's @ Destination Daytona last October and had a salesman tell me that it was their slowest time of year, buisiness was really bad, they were only selling 15 bikes per day! He also said that in two weeks when DaytonaBiketoberfest rolled around they'd be selling 50 per day!

I don't know the buisiness as an insider but I thought that was impressive.

My local dealer is booming. Bikes are moving almost as soon as they arrive, both new and used. They have added another salesperson, have more parts people than I can ever remember, and the last I heard, they were looking for more mechanics. There is currently a 5-6 week wait to get work done on bikes there. Don't think there is a "Harley Depression" around here.

I didn't buy it to save gas, but it sure is fun to fill up for 15$ or less and leave the $60+ truck in the garage.

I'm not saying this pointing at any of the above posts, nor to say there isor is not a"Harley Depression", but dealers and dealer salesmen will lie lie lie about business being good even if it is not, so I wouldn't necessarily trust what they say. Just what they do cause it's widely known that people don't like to deal with businesses in trouble. What if they're not around to service my bike? Last year when my local dealer had about a dozen copper 105 anniversary bikes lined up and they didn't seem to be moving. I commented to one of the salesmen they didn't seem to be moving and he said the hell they're not, we've sold 8 of em already and I sold 5 myself! I mentioned his comment to the service manager who I'm friends with and he said the salesman was lying they hadn't sold a single one, at that time.

Was at Glendale (CA) Harley today and it was busy. Had to wait in line for parts and again for accessories.

Well here's another aspect from the vreelands area. The word is getting around about Larry's sports center up in galeton PA. Most of the time their brand new bikes are ALOT cheaper than the other area dealers, along with their used bikes. Sooooo, many people are driving the 2 to 3 hours to buy bikes up there. Vreelands is a small dealership compared to Horsepower(who I WILL NOT step foot inside their store because of their attitude problems), and Number One(this dealer gets my business for bikes, labor, and parts). Both of these dealers are bigger and carry more stock. Now many people that buy from Larry's that live in Vreelands area will use Vreelands for service, parts, and chrome. Some, like my father, will ride up to Larry's for everything for the bike. Number One is doing great, I'm in their alot as this is where my loyalty lies and they know it and treat me good because of it. Vreelands does get a good bit of business for a small dealer though, one of the guys I work with is waiting on his Rocker to come in there. They also get business from people who are sick of Horsepowers BS.
