Default Beer board regulations

In Sevierville, we finally have a sports bar that is allowed to sell beer. And the food is home-cooked. We have been suggesting they try a bike night. Well, it turns out that they are so restricted by the laws of the city that it will never happen. They are not permitted to post a sign out front to attract bikers. They also were holding a fastest beer drinking contest every night at 11:30 and giving the winner cash. They had to stop that also. The ratio of food served vs. beer sold has to be 60% food and 40% beer. They are selling 80% beer. These bible belt old fuddy-duddys that make up city government here irritate me. They want beer here so the big name restaurants will open here so "tourists" can enjoy a cold one. There is an old bar in Pigeon Forge called Alf's that was here before Pigeon Forge enacted beer laws, and it always said Good Food, Cold Beer on the sign out front. I guess they are trying to promote a family image in PF but now the Cold Beer is off the sign. This county is about 50 years behind everyone else.

I can relate to what you are saying here in good ole' NC I happen to live in a "DRY" county....No alcohol sales outside the city limit....Now if you want a snoot full of some good ole homemade "brandy" that is plentiful outside the city limit....Lawmakers are a strange sort....

I tell you, everyone seems torip onUtah / Salt Lake City for it's liquor laws. But from my personal travel to other states, national news articles and posts like this make me realize Utah is probably one of the more lenient states out there.
