Ok I've been sitting back for a while reading all your posts. The common bond is Harley so lets look what all you guys saying things like "I want the most bag for my buck" did around here. Just tour around Milwaukee if you come to see the new museum. I can drive you around town and go down the list. Briggs and Stratton, just about gone moved down south and mexico, Babcock and Wilcox, gone out of business, Allis Chalmers (tractors and turbines) gone, there a Loews there now, American Motors\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; almost gone, Chrysler still building some things there\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Evinrude Outboards, bought buy Bombardier, built a new plant a few years ago and now wants to close that and make them in Canada\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; A. O. Smith, truck and car frames for the big three, gone, sold to Tower Mfg. and they are closing the doors\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Caterpilliar Tractor&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;Bucket Plant, gone, moved production to home base in Peoria Ill., there's a Home Depot there now\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; The three electricals, Cutler Hammer, Eaton, &amp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Square D all gone closed up and leveled\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Mercury Marine (yes THAT Mecury Marine, the same guys that cast all your Harley engine blocks and transmission cases) closing up and making all there stuff down south and in their plant in China\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Snap-On Tools, gone, went down south and mexico, shopping mall there now\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;MI LSCO, yeh the company that has been making Harley seats since the 1920's, gone, going under and closing up\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Oh and that New Harley museum, thats built on land once owned by The Milwaukee Road (railroad company), gone, bought out by The SOO LINE and moved out of town. One bright spot, Motor Castings Company that made Harley Flywheels and cast iron cylinders is still in business and running strong. So Mr. "I want the most bag for my buck" have a nice ride to Wal-Mart to buy your Harbor Frieght tools, enjoy the store, maybee your son will get a job there after he finishes collage&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;&nbsp\\;\\\\\ \;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
And Henry Ford put the buggy makers and the blacksmiths out of business...and probably in our life times, internal combustion engines will become a thing of the past...people and industries adapt...always have, always will...

I spend my money with whoever gives me the most value...if a business wants my patronage, they'll give me value and service.
Nothing is as bad for the consumer or this country as letting a business know you'll tolerate being overcharged in the name of patriotism. It's a 2 way street, and loyalty should run both ways.

&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\; I cant argue with your statement Art... But i never expected much from bussiness and our Goverment.. But what does bother me is our own people have sold us out.. Bussinness cant take all the blame for job loss.. I was doing work at wal-mart (Contractor) they had two kitchen faucets on the wall one a 79.00 USA made and a 29.00 cheap made in mexico they were selling the 29.00 faucet at a 12 to 1 ratio&nbsp\\; Wal-mart dropped the 79.00 unit my question is what was the american consumer telling wal-mart...It was not wal-mart that made the choice it was our own people... i still think in many ways we have better products but price is driving the economy... Many people want
&nbsp\\;price over quality .... They seem to be willing to deal with the problems of there choice later... And the jobs we are losing everyday...&nbsp\\; I see a time in this Country where we wont make much anymore... We are the greatest consumer in the world, But it will not last as our jobs are dissapearing.

The freight line I worked for for 7 years used Hysters, then went to all Toyota because the Toyota was better. They have 70 Toyota lifts now. They were $25,000 new and get maintained in the company shop. They really take a beating and I've seen a few with 26,000 hours on them.

I've said before that one of deepest problems&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;is with the individual...people want to pay yard sale prices for their purchases, but they want top dollar for their labor...that discrepancy and hypocracy helped make Wally World what it is today...just sayin...

I'm still laughing that people think Harbor Freight sells quality tools!!&nbsp\\; I do buy tools there, but when&nbsp\\;I do I only expect to get one to two uses out of them.&nbsp\\; I know they are disposable, and if it is a tool I will need to use more I pay more to buy a quality product somewhere else.

BS.&nbsp\\; Nothing is as bad a company knowing they can bring in cheap junk made overseas or over the border and selling it to the consumer.&nbsp\\; Wait, the consumer who buys the junk is just as bad because they enable this bs.&nbsp\\; Now before you blow a cork, sure there are some who just cannot afford anything else, and for them Wally world helps.&nbsp\\; But if you can afford to buy a HD you can afford to buy elsewhere.&nbsp\\; Oh yeh you have the right...blah blah blah.&nbsp\\; If anyone says we Americans have the onus to fight for our country, then we also have the onus to protect it economically.&nbsp\\; Yeh its a 2 way street, so be loyal to the US and not to your personal little world.&nbsp\\; Bottomline NAFTA sucks and is killing us.&nbsp\\; Just wait until our new pres comes in and opens the border gates and all the -now- illegals are no longer illegal, and will work for pennies doing your job putting you out of work.

Agreed, the biggest problem lies with the individual or company, Wally world included, who has no loyalty to anything other than his pocketbook.

&nbsp\\;
My point remains the same...if an American business&nbsp\\;wants my patronage, give me a product of equal quality and value as a foreign made one, and I'll buy it every time...they can't wave a flag with one hand, pick my pocket with the other, and expect my co-operation...let's ALL get with the program from corporation&nbsp\\;to consumer...
