Had one last week too. I've been taking the long way home from work just about every day. Was about 20 miles into this'commute', just leaving a small country townand grabbing some throttle when a cage a few car lengths ahead of me jammed on the brakes. A kid had run across the road well in front of him to get to the mail box. The cage and I had each seen the kid, no big deal. What we both missed was the kid's mutt loose in the front yard that darted after him. I had to run up the right side of the car to avoid hitting it and put the fear into the kid that's for sure. Gotta watch every minute!
One thing I learned at a 'skills rodeo' a few years ago was to practice slow maneuvering, tight circles, figure eights, general bike controland HARD braking often, so when you need it it's second nature. As some of you know, I just got the RK recently, and hadn't ever really stood on the brakes yet. This was real close.
