Indy did right by me for my 10k service
Along with all the normal checklist stuff, I automatically askedfornew plugs instead of just being inspected, decided this time on Mobile 1V-Twin Synthetic for the engine & primary, and then one of the Tranny oils my Indy suggested.
I then asked for 2 new OEM tires (Dunlops), a new set of brake pads (front & back), and then I asked him to contact me if anything else was necessary as he completed his checks. My '08 had 9800+ miles when I turned it in. (the rear tire was bald, and cupping was showing on the tread that was left on the front tire).
One of my buddies at work got me back to the shop at 5pm after a phone call confirmed that they would keep going on my bike till it was done. Aparently the tires didn't show up till the late afternoon. I waited around in their side office and easily peeked-in on what the two techs were doing without being a pain in the neck with questions that were too easy to ask being that close to the lift.
It took them until almost 8pm to finish up, and as I was paying-up with the boss out front, the techs were sweeping up and flipping lights off in the garage area. They normally close at 5pm.
I wouldn't have had a problem if they had requested to keep the bike overnightto finish the bike in the morning. They knew I wanted to get squared-away before Saturday so I could safely ride to Leesburg and back with forum friends. I think they went above and beyond for me, and I don't think I would ever get treated so well elsewhere.
My final bill, which included those annoying (and typical) charges for shop supplies and tire disposal, came to $795.41 (parts, labor, tax). I think the stealerships would have charged that JUST for the 10k service, so I am happy.
I'm almost self-suficient now to do all my next service tasks. I know that could have saved even more money. I have been getting better tools, a sears lift, front wheel chock, and I think I have the grease fitting for the odd angle to get next to the steering head.
EDITED TO ADD: BTW... I already have all my HD manuals. (like a good boy).
Sounds like you found a great shop.
