Default gloves, helmets, boots, armor,

I want to know a little more about the gear thats out there. I generally am willing to pay the price for top quality gear, to me its all worth it.

heres what I know so far on the gear.

-Tri composite is the best material for helmets. Arai makes good full face helmets
-Aerostich Darien are good jackets
-kangaroo skin offer heavy protection from ultra thin hide and give u best feedback from fingertips.
-the best pvc one peice riding suits have nylon mesh to allow for breathability
-darien has good electric lined jackets for the cold
-the joe rockets alter ego jacket is a popular jacket. I dont know the specifics on it thou.
-Icon has well armored jackets

some questions I have.
what are some really good tri composite helmet brands?
Darien makes top quality jackets, what are some others that can compete or surpass?
kangaroo skin sounds like the best material for a glove, if this is the case, what r the brands?

basically just looking for the best stuff so I can decide where to put my money, and give me a broader knowledge on the gear thats out there. whatever it may be. Thanks for the help.

Kevlar chaps with armor in the knees and leather inner calf panels to protect them from your pipes. www.coloradochaps.com
HD Switchback jacket - has a removeable front/rearpanel and mesh underneath - ideal for Montana with hot days and very cool nights/ams.

Sorry guys, I can't pass on this one. Roadkill, just make sure to stay away from all fringe, fingerless gloves, or a**less chaps (if they had an a**, then they would be pants, right?)or some members of this forum will turn you into a pariah. Oh yeah, don't wave either. Again, sorry guys, I justhad to go there.

Super composite fiberous unobtonium laminate helmets are no safer, they are lighter. Got the neck muscles of a 90 year old? Big bucks, light helmet. Otherwise get something 'cool' thats comfortable and move on. $100-$200.

Lots of jackets are good. You better like it and find it comfortable, well vented, etc so that you wear it. Thick well stitched leather is not a modern invention, and is rarely outperformed by 'space age' miracle materials. $280-$430.

Jackelope ******* makes the best gloves!

Breathability is for wussies. Wrap yourself in garbage bags and cheap walmart rainsuits, guaranteed to keep the rain out! Never mind that you'll be twice as wet from sweating, saves time at the sauna.

Fox creek leather jackets and gloves are breaking into the very premium range at the reasonable end of the price spectrum. Buying online from them is a no-brainer because the customer service is impecable. Lots of people know how to skin a cow and sew jackets, but many of them are crooks and have figured out how to do it 'cheaply'. Don't buy from popup ads.

My local indy shop is a Scorpion dealer and their stuff is super high quality at a mid-range price. I bought a Scorpion helmet and liked it so much I bought a leather jacket a couple months later. I hear they are making gloves now too. They are better quality than my (more expensive) HD stuff. Since I have a sport bike and a Harley I wanted some kit that didn't HD or jap logos all over it so I could use it on either bike. My Scorpion stuff is plain black with minimal logos.

For jackets, I'd say Fox Creek or the HD FXRG are your best bets; if you can get the FXRG for at least 20% off (check www.nrhd.com, or Chicago HD or Zanottis). FXRG isn't a walking billboard for HD, either. Vanson is pretty good stuff, too, but I didn't get to try any of those on. For pants, I'm going with the FXRG because they have a little armor in them.

Agree with the helmet comments; find one you like that's DOT and/or SNELL approved. How much you pay is your call.

Gloves? Never heard of Kangaroo skin gloves, so I can't comment on that.

Lots of companies have "well armored" jackets; you need a quiality jacket. Then consider the armor. I don't know much about Icon's quality so can't comment on how their jackets are made.

Since you say you have the coin and don't mind spending it for the right gear, you might want to consider Langlitz; widely considered one of - if not THE - best. http://www.langlitz.com/

For cooler weather, the FXRG jacket and pants are the best I've found. They are a little pricey, but the leather and construction is great. I have not problem riding in temperatures in the 30's in this gear. I've also got the FXRG full face helmet. It's a Kevlar composite so it's very light weight but super strong.
