Nice of you to offer your help and also to not make him feel bad in front of his wife. Also, good post here on the forum and I'm with you on your response to rickoshay...can't figure where that dude's coming from.[sm=boosign.gif]

Good for you. I had a friend who would turn the petcock off on my Sportster. I would get about 1/4 mile down the road and it would die. First time it kind of threw my mind in thinking major overhaul. Told him the next day I had to call for a trailer and tore the carb apart trying to find the problem. Next time it happened, I knew. A few words with him later and it never happened again.

I used to have a sticker on my old race bike that said turn the gas on dummy.

I did it too on the first day I bought my bike...but my mistake was accidentally hitting the kill switch without realizing it. My buddy got a big kick out of it after he walked over and switched it back on for me.

Hopefully you mentioned the reserve incase he did not know or was not shown that. It is always good to know where it is and how to rocate it while riding in order to make it to the gas station.

Good job helping out the new guy! Like someone said, we've all been there at one point or another.

Nice one - on the Karma thing I am great believer in what goes around comes around.

When I was 17 I bought a brand new Honda 360 (didn't know better then) and proudly took it to work, At lunch time my mates came down to look at it and wanted me fire it up which I did. It ran like an absolute pig and I was really starting to panic. One of the older more seasoned guys came round and flipped the choke lever to the off position and hey presto all was great again. Must have caught it with my jeans as I got off - needless to say I didn't do that again.

Good for you for stopping to assist another rider. You never know who it is your stopping to help. I stopped to help out a guy on his new Harley. He ran out of gas too. He had help on the way so I just sat and talked to pass time. Turned out he is some big honcho in a big corporation. He gave me his business card and said "call me if you need anything".GOOD KARMA!
